  • Help Needed

    Hi guys & girls,

I am in need of some assistance I am trying to locate/buy 2 x rear shockers for Audi 90 Quattro B2, I have wanted one for a while but I am slowly changing my mind

I have supplied a part number to 3 motor factors and all have sent me the wrong ones the last set where delivered today and are Bilstein 21-030406 the main body is slightly narrower and slightly longer than the one's I took out the part number on the shocker's I took out is 853 511 031B it is also stamped in VW 098B S2 19 11 85, I am not too sure if these are the originals or not date seems pretty close to me.

I have tried TPS and guess what NLA

    Thanks in advance.

    John

That 853 number is long since obsolete.

    The revised number is 893 513 031 G

          Hi Davy,

Thank you I will give them a call tomorrow, I don't know why these are so hard to find.

I have wanted an Audi 90 B2 for a while now, so whilst my RS2 is in the paintshop I thought I would crack on with the 90 for something to do and i have spent a small fortune getting it running right it looks like someone has been messing about in the engine bay, K-jetronic fuel distributor not working correctly, so sent it away for a full overhaul - £800.00 new set if injectors, new fuel pump, lots of oil leaks, front pulley put on wrong way around and forced on, headlights fully re-chromed £290.00, rear brakes tied up with a piece of string to each rear spring so new rear brake callipers, new rear back plates from Audi Tradition, new handbrake cables, new floating calliper pistons and seals, subframe fully sandblasted repainted and power flex bushes £700.00 new tie rods, new inner and outer CV joints the list was quiet long and expensive but getting there now, so back end of 90 should be like new subframe, suspension and brake wise

I don't know whether to carry on with it or just sell it, jobs still to do, front subframe complete overhaul (other people might not bother with this) but I would just so it matched the rear and I'm not sure but it may want a new head gasket.

So if anyone does want an Audi 90 Quattro B2 I may sell it for the money I have in it up to now, I am the 3rd owner on the log book.

How are things at your end Davy?

            Help needed

            Hi John,

I just thought when my local guy was able to get the NLA power steering pump pulley he might have been able to get some other bits for you.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, my S2 got back on the road a week ago as good as new.
I'll try and post a photo.
Glad you are well and I hope VW Audi spares can help you.

            Keep in touch,
            Davy

                      Hi Greg,

Yes it is a lot of work on something I thought would be a quick fix (Oh how wrong we can be)

It just depends on what I do with the car long term, as I posted earlier I only brought it home to do what I thought where a couple of jobs Ha!Ha!.

If I want to do the car justice I will re-build the front end the same as the rear do the head gasket and then MOT it and run it for a while, then one day I will completely strip the car have it dipped see how good or bad it is and then start from scratch and re-build it.

But that could be another story

                      John
