  • RS2 auto A/C vents servo motors not working

    Hi all.

All of a sudden i have just the center vents working.
    Not footwell no windscreen.
I know that the servo for feet and windscreen it's one
But if i push the buttons i don't hear the dedicated servo working
Also the one for the dash vents it's silent.
I know that in order to direct air to the feet or the wind screen firstly the center fla should close.

VAG says that both servo motors are "no voltage"

    Temperature flap works ok.

Already tried to change the ECU with another one in perfect order but no joy...

Is it possible that both servomotors are fubar?
Anyone so kid to source the wiring of the Auto A/C?

    Thanks in advance

    Stefano

    Hi Stefano

    Happy birthday

Seems unlikely that both motors break at the same time.
I had some problems caused by cracked solder joints on the climate control unit circuit board, worth checking that.
You can also use an early B5 control unit
    Panthero Coupé quattro 20vt
    Indigo ABY coupé
    Imola B6 S4 Avant

Thanks Alex for remember my birthday!

I tried already a different control unit (original RS2) but still encountering the same issue...

If the RS2 a/c is similiar to the C4 there might be something useful in the pdf on this link:

If it's not the control unit, then you have bad servo motors. Are you 100% sure that at least one control unit is working? These will go bad easily if the motors are stuck. You should also check the error codes from the control unit (vcds). Those will tell you what's wrong and which motors are affected.

I just did my 4 motors last year. If you have a decent garage and some time to spend this isn't as bad job as advertised. And basically you can do all except "air flow flap motor" with the dash in place. Windshield-footwell flap motor will be a pita with dash in place. If you have not done this motor swap before, just remove the dash. For the air flow flap you need to remove the ac-box completely and disconnect ac lines.

And just remember. All these servo-motors are (usually) 20 years old. If one has problems you should service them all.

As mentioned, I presume you apprecaite that these little servo motors are servicable.

There is a thread on here with photos which covers this repair / service job.

              Thanks!
Anyone can point me on the thread describing the chance of service these little ******s?
As i said at the beginning already tried to swap head unit (100% working) and had VAG codes out stating servo motors have "no voltage".
Seems very strange that two of them are not working at the same time.
About the age of them none has twenty years....
Been trough changing them a couple of times already...
Again thanks for the advises fellas!

As often happens on this car....

Everything come back in full order without me touching anything!
All of a sudden both motors are back in business as they went out.

                Weird!
