  • Audi 80L Quattro 1973

After a couple of years with a lot of working and no time for projects, i now got time to start on a project.

I have always wanted a old audi and i have now bought myself a audi 80L from 1973.
The plan is to take the drivetrain from a audi 80 quattro 80`s models and make it fit the 80L.
The engine will be a AEB 4cylinder, with some horsepower the reason i choose a 4cylinder is because i dont want the car to be super heavy in the front.
The wheels will be some old school rims, that fits the era and car.

    Photos of the car.

The rims to go on the car. 7,5x17

    If in doubt, Flat out.

very nice! the car looks in really nice condition so it must have been well looked after for the past 42 years?
    i'll be watching with interest.

I suggest if you are going to be building a motor anyway to start with the AXW block.
      AEB's are becoming relics

Relics aren`t bad besides the engine is already built. Puts out 551 hp and 620 nm at 2,2 bar.
        If in doubt, Flat out.

            Some updates on the project.

Ordered some parts from Albert, who builds some awesome parts at www.akmotorsport.net

Brakes. 330 mm disc since i am using 17 inch rims.

I also bought B4 subframes (front and rear), subframe bushings (front and rear), engine mounts, gearbox mounts, diff mounts, top mounts for audi and bushings for the wishbones.

great project, looking forward to see your build thread!
i believe the b4 subframes are not a straight for that car
but hey you shall have to change even more things I think
                good luck with the project

The subframes are far from bolt on but i will make a roll cage/mini spaceframe that the drivetrain/suspension will be mounted on

                        Very nice, thanks for sharing.

Should be discrete until you bring up revs to 3k+ etc.

Would be good to keep the arches 'standard looking', if that's part of your plans, rather than big obvious arches - imho.

Looking forward to thread updates and photos in due course.

Wishing Albert continuing success with his business, which will be good for all older I5 20vt S cars and us as owners of same.

                          Your welcome
The plan is to build a sleeper, almost standard on the outside but a lot of power and good handling under the shell I have to do something with the arches, since the drivetrain is a bit wider on the B4, but i will make some urquattro look a like arches.

More pics will come as soon as i go home for the holiday Roll cage are ready to go in.

I also wish Albert great success with his business, so us idiots have some place to spend our money on preformance parts to put on our money pits
