  • S2 coupe -92 improvment

    Hello from Sweden

First of all, excuse me for my poor english..........

I´ve been an s2 coupe owner for about 10years now. I have a black s2 coupe -91 that went from daily driver into a pure racecar project.
That means whole lot of fun but also me missing a powerful roadlegal car

Got myself a S2 -95 avant drove it for a year or two before i sold it with profit to buy parts for the racecar.
Going thru diffrent cars and a migrate from Stockholm (the capital) to the mountains up north I finally after some years had the funds of buying a second s2 coupe

This is the car this thread is about:

It´s a longmile car which been imported from Germany 10years before I bought it.
The gentleman i bought it from had owned it for 10years and used it as a dailydriver.
Something i think is positive insted of going thru alot of owners without the funds of keeping maintaince of the car..

The specs on the car when I drove it home in may 2011 was:
    Stock 3b bottom AAN head
Sachs performance clutch and pressureplate =)
    Rs2 EM

After a couple of days I took the AC out as it didn´t work and where i live there are maybe 20days/year you really have a use for it...

      Gone:

Also the front radiator and intercooler had to leave:

        Along with the intake manifold....

        and the crappy crankcase hoses...

I had an Intake manifold I built a couple of years a go on a shelf that went on

        Intercooler had a modification:

        Out for a testdrive:

Switched mounts on the drivetrain into a rubber from a swedish army vehicle for a more solid fit. Seem to have lost the photos somewere.... Drove it like that rest of the season.

Having my garage occupied with the race project and winter coming along there no more done to the car until next spring.

          2012:
Switched the support bearing and fuelfiter

Then i built stainless steel exhaust with some parts from my other s2. Had to be rebuilt pretty much as it had a diffrent turbo etc...

            Thanks!!
            Well I guess it is

This car is going the be only a little track inspired with stiffer bushings and suspension
and in the future upgraded brakes.
The power will be supplied by a oldschool K26/27 with the small hotside. aprox 350 crank hp.

Sold the old IM and built a new smaller one with a more OEM look.

Being able to rent a garage very cheap from my neighbour I went for a timing belt change and some service. But as the car has run 345000km (somewhere around 214400miles) I decided to take out the engine for a proper overhaul.

Stripped the engine apart and left the bottom to company for measuring and necessary processing. Also a balancing with H-rods will be done =)

Meanwhile I got my own lazy a** to take down the chassis.
Grind, sandblast, paint a lot of parts and put it back with new stiffer bushings, ball joints, struts... Also a set off Koni and H&R got fitted

                    Some mandatory pics of course

I used to run around with thoughts of painting my -91 red.

Thanks I like that it´s appreciated dispite being a low budget, low hp project

Yeah it´s always nice with a working aircon and I admire those still having it on their 700+hp cars.

My coupe´s are all about having fun. Me and the wife went for a one week 1500km holiday with earplugs, radio turned up and the sunroof open when it was to hot
On holidays after that we took the comfortable 100 2,6 avant quattro insteed.........

At the moment I´m waiting on the engineparts so project are on a pause.

But I can share some pics of a alternative IM I started to built for the car last autumn.

I know this tubular would be more optimal, but I like the other one as it hopefully will pass the vehicle inspection without any raised eyebrowse
