  • B6 S4 Recaro Seats into b4 sedan?

I scored this set of Recaro seats at a local 'you pull' style junkyard. The price was too cheap to pass on so I brought them home, I did a little bit of playing around and it looks like it might be quite simple to fit these in the back of my b4 sedan.

Here is the rear lowers, the width is perfect and even lines up nicely with the factory uppers:

Rear upper width is extremely close as well, overall width is within 1/4th of an inch:

(obviously that photo just shows it fitting width wise, i didn't feel like removing the rear uppers at the moment)

Fronts should be quite simple. The B6 seats have integrated rails and just bolt down in the 4 corners. I figure i'll probably take a stock set of seats, chop everything off them and keep the mounting points and attach some bar stock with some mounting points for the b6 seats. That should keep it completely reversible.

I really want to see how this turns out, my back just loves these seats.

I have a set of B5S4 rears ready to go in if I decide to go that route. They are very close, as you noted.

Trying to think of the guy on here who did it with B5s into his 80 sedan... he's got a pelican blue that he's been restoring with every option. From Latvia IIRC...

Either way, I say DO IT! Gonna look awesome!

          It's me I guess
But I have C4 Recaros front and combination of B3 and B4 seats on rear.

That was Lee_whitehead who had B5 rears in his B3 -> link

B5 manual fronts should be similar swap to C4 fronts in B3/B4 as my friend had C4 Recaros in his B5 without any welding, just by swapping over lower frames.
B5 front frames are 'teen milimeters wider than B4.

About B6 seats first one that comes into mind is Daniel's Cabrio - he had B6 cabrio seats in it:

yeah, those b6 seats are easier to mount since they have integrated rails.

Does anyone know what difference there is in the back seats of a saloon/sedan and a coupe?

liking this thread, will keep my eyes on it as I loved my B6 S4 seats, if this works, I see a front seat install into my cabby coming on and my ABYs going up for sale!

Lots of issues there. What exactly do you want to do?

erm.. put a spare set of rear B6 S4 recaros into a coupe. I reckon the bench might need to be trimmed at the sides and bolsters custom made.

Front seats would potentially be OK to install but if they remained on their original bases they wouldn't flip forward. moving the seat electrically each time could be a pain and ultimately burn the motors out. I don't know if they could be combined to retain electrical functions but still flip forward? Would there even be clearance for the headrests?

Probably better to retrim the coupe rears in the style of the B6.

Similarly, you could try using coupe frames with the B6 cushions. I was simply planning on Porsche seats in my CQ. If you're in love with the Audi style, maybe A5/S5 seats are a better path?

All options are open. S4, S5, TT, Porsche... just depends what I can get my hands on I guess. The reason for even entertaining S4 seats in the back of a coupe is because I'll probably have a spare set of rears very soon. Maybe I'll just make some interesting garage furniture instead

There were photos here with rs2 (avant) rear bench installed into coupe. I've been doing some experiments with 8C Avant rear bench too:

Possible, but there are some issues to be solved...

depends which car you fit it in i think. i have b3 saloon with solid wall between boot and cabin. i have fitted my s2 coupe seats in it.

rear middle is attached with a couple of screws from boot side into back of seat. its fixed so no folding anyway as b3 dont fold. seat base is identical. middle side bolster slot in the gap just fine. front seats fit fine. mabe a bit wider so folding mech is close to side of car but not touching.
