  • PS Cooler Pipe Split...

It appears that my PS Fluid Cooler Pipe has a very small split or hole in it... It's right where the bracket holds it in place about half way along the ribbed section. Is this a common fail on these cooler pipes? I'm glad I've found it but not so glad about what they cost from the steelers... If anyone has one that they're looking to offload could you reply or drop me a pm please.

    Cheers

I thought about using a 4 row oil cooler.

Not a bad idea. It's on the low pressure side so can't see why not and the mount would be easy to adapt.

Maybe not for your OE+ build but that track car you'll get some time...

Andy10v found his came apart the other day. They are getting to be a more common failure unfortunately.
On your car Russ, I'd get a new genuine one while you still can. If it wasn't such a special motor, small generic oil cooler like Andy suggested would be fine

Definitely going the genuine route, just don't like what it's going to cost me... Hoping someone here has a new one they don't need. If I can't get a new one I may have to go with an alternative solution..

They are pretty common on B3/B4 cars. Why not get one and keep it with your original parts stash and go aftermarket. I've been thinking about it since Andy's split last week.

£50-60 or so for a small cooler, fittings and hose.

Yes, that's the one i'm after. The dealer wants £124.00 for a new one and they're on a two week delivery!! For what it is i'm not forking out that much. Really hoping Trist28 has one otherwise it's going to have to be non standard. However, is fitting an oil cooler tried and tested and do we know of any car that's running an aftermarket cooler? I'm just wondering if it affects flow rates?

I'm almost 100% sure its this cooler pipe thats leaking on my s2 as well, let us know how you get on finding one although a small cooler does sound like a neat idea.

Russ, we can always design a finned pipe to do the same job.

There are inline coolers I can find in the US but not in the UK just yet...
