  • 3B swapped US model 90 running issues

Ok so I have pretty much all the wiring done and can start putting the interior back together but I want to get a few things sorted out before I stuff the dash back in, just in case I have to tear back into the wiring to solve what ever I have going on. The issue is that the car will start up and run but extremely rich like the injectors are running at full cycle! I checked the MAF and it was reading over the voltage of what it should be so I changed it out. The car still does the same thing same readings... I checked all the connections, checked the N75, O2, altitude sensor as well as the FPR they all check out... Then I did a teminal check to make sure all the wires from the ECU to each component have a good circuit which they all do. I am stumped at this point an can only think the ECU has an issue but I don't have one to test to see if it solves my problem. Have any of you ran into this issue of running rich and the MAF reading high voltage when checked between terminals #1 and #3??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Stock injectors. I pulled them all and made sure they are all working properly as well.

Well I tested a known good ECU in my car today and it had the same result... I have no idea what is causing the problem at this point. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

You didn't mention the G62 Engine Coolant Temp sensor (back of the head, the one that the ECU uses to determine if the engine is cold and needs to be running rich).

Did you reset the ECU (clear any codes) either with VAG-com or by pulling the power to the ECU for 5 minutes? Anyway, even if you changed the G62, there could be issues with the wiring between the G62 and the ECU.

I'll check the circuit between the G62 and the ECU to be sure nothing is wrong with it. This is what it sounds like with the MAF plugged in idling. The voltage at the MAF before running is within range 1.4volts. But running it jumps to 3.4volts which is a full volt higher than where it should be. https://vimeo.com/130980288

Is the maf standard? because i had issues with a ebay special , which made the engine run rich all the time.

                        Any fault codes?

How did you check the FPR and lambda?

How rich? How do you know its rich?

Is this cold start, when driving, when hot?

The car is still in the middle of the engine swap. I have it in the garage on blocks so I can't test drive it. And I was able to check the 02 with the multimeter and the FPR with a gauge. I know it's Rich from all the gas fumes in the garage when it's running with the MAF plugged in and and the amount of voltage then it's reading when terminals 1 and three are jumped with a multimeter

Clean the maf connector terminals, both male and female contacts, with 1000 grit wet and dry and coat them with silicon dielectric grease.
Check or replace the white temp sensor on the back of the head.

Is there any chance your ECU has been modified?
