S2 Coupe... bit easier off the line...
'03 ZX12-R daily hack.... lots of nice bolt ons...
We still use our S2 Avant as a daily, its fine. Most weeks the Ur quattro also gets used for mundain daily stuff too... We've always had the motto of 'you're a long time dead, enjoy things now, while you can'....

I used the b3 90 quattro Aby as a daily. No issues other than fuel use and potential speeding fines.
After a few family bereavements that took us by surprise Ian s motto from above is a good one to go by.
I daily 'ed my S2 Avant, and still would if I had not graduated to daily 'ing my UrS6.
S2 is 'parked inside just waiting'.
As mentioned the only thing can be fuel but what's the point of fussing. Gauge it as smiles to the gallon. But if you have a long commute it may use too much of your income. My trips are all short.
But I would suggest having access to the second car for when the S car is off the road due to an issue.
But it is great getting to drive an S car each and every day.
A full preventative health check from the outset would be a good idea but costs.
So you have to decide - do I drive it until it breaks and fix it while using the second car, or - do I give it a thorough overhaul before I start using it everyday.
Either way, as you already know, to get involved with these S cars costs money, but not as much at the repayments on say a new Golf Mk 7 GTI for five years (60 months of repayments).
If you decide to daily an S car you will need readily available cash funds and a strong resolve as you will find it trying on occasion, and often wonder should you give in and just drive a newer more 'normal' ordinary car.
Summary - Commitment and Tenacity required.

I did Gav but I now work roughly 1 mile from work and I either get a lift from a passing colleague or use my bike... I enjoyed using my avant daily... But then I have access to another 3 cars easily all the time for when repair work comes round.
I know you know your way around these cars and know the common issues so as you will do im sure, sort those out asap and you will be fine

I daily drove my coupe for five years, and have been daily driving my S2 Avant for the last seven years, wouldn't have it any other way
I will add one caveat, first thing i did when i bought the car was to completely strip out the suspension and engine and put it all back together with new bushings and consumables. I wouldn't like to buy a 20 odd year old car with 100k+ miles and just start driving it every day as it will let you down. Budget for a refresh and it will be a dependable and highly enjoyable companion.
As above my daily commute is less than 20 miles down B roads, if i had to drive further than that or on motorways i wouldn't drive it, that's what TDI's are for.

Mine's a little stiffly sprung now and has no rubber bushes, so around town can be a little bumpy but having done a 2 hour round trip in it yesterday, I'd happily do a long trip on A roads anywhere

Always used my S2 as a daily (tho' got a pickup that helps out too),
it's the winter roadsalt that's finally making me want to take the present S2 off the road this winter- despite waxoyling, it's painful to watch the deterioration over a full Scottish winter
Yep been using mine as a daily for the last 18months...bar a blown radiator and a dead battery those are the only things which have caused me to be off the road for a bit of time. In all honesty, they are better running regularly than sat there for weeks on end unused in my experience. Does about 25miles per day and has a good blat down a dual carriageway too so its a decent drive to heat up fully and be driven too.
Mine ABY Avant is my daily but on LPG so kind of economical as a tdi, lots of KM means sometimes it needs something expensive other than usual maintenance but also means it doesn´t deteriorate as much as if it was standing and as more caracter and is less expensive than a new car)
we only live now so have fun now!
Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated.
The comments above about enjoying life etc is what has sparked my train of thought. I've had new audis for the last 8 yrs and having seen a couple of very tempting s2's come up of late and with my long standing love of b3 / b4 I'm very tempted to get another s2 to run as a daily. I've got a couple of vehicles available if it goes horribly wrong and there's a train station not far from the office.
