  • Dutch circuit S2 3B

    Dear forum people,

I have been on this forum for a while, so it is time to introduce you my project. Let me first introduce myself. My name is Evert, 28 years young and living in the north of the Netherlands.

This year in may I have bought an red Audi Coupe S2 from 1991, wich has run 260K. My intentions with the car is to make is suitable for the circuit. Not attending to do competions, but yust for fun, manly on the Nordschleife in Germany. I have choosens for the S2, because i wanted to be an Audi, and i like the Quatro technique.

First step of the project was, to make the car safe for using it on the circuit. Well known problem of the S2 are the brakes, these are actually too small for the car. The solution is as also well known, Porsche RS2 Brakes. So this was the first thing to do. So I ordered the S2 Porsche Brakes, National grooved 320mm front brake disc, Ferrodo Racing 2500 brake pads and stainless brake hoses.

Second step was the suspension. We find out that the suspension as it was under the car, wasn't that good anymore. Friends of me are using adjustable suspension from KW Mark III under their car, and they are ferry pleased with it. Unfortunaly KW Mark III is not available for the S2, so I have chosen for the Mark II.

Using the Porsche braking, brings I couldn’t use the normal rims. So I have to look for new rims. This wasn’t too easy because a lot of rims don’t fit. But fortunate I managed to finds some new rims. These are Oxigin 17 inch 7,5j.

From that 2nd and 3rd picture it looks like you did not install the steel brake lines? Or did you only change the outside brake lines?

Using new rims also means you have too get new tyres. Because I wanted to use it on the circuit I have chosen for the Falken Azemis 612 225/34 17.

The seats of the S2 are nice, but not good enough for the circuit in my opinion so I bought two Sparco racing seats

After done that it was time to do something about the exhaust. The one which was under the car was not the fresh anymore. So I decide to replace the entire exhaust for a 3 inch stainless steel one, with an Simons silencer. I also removed the two catalyst.

Yes, but I don't know how much, because I didn’t weight the materials which came out. There will be some weight back in, because of a roll cage.
