  • mal's ozzie S1E2

Thought its time to start a project thread. After some burbon and playing on ebay one night i ended up owning this11072011428.jpg With a lot of help from Glen Nightingale who iam forever in his debt it made the long swim to OZ
i have been busy recaging changing etc and iam getting there slowly .The car had already been shortened and the kevlar kit fitted which is a good thing as we never got the b2 coupe here so no donor cars were available. It will be used for gravel rally and i have a aan/ 01e to go in when i get that far.
This is a bit of a test post to see if it works as iam having trouble attaching photos, i have lots of the build. It will not be as nice as say hamish's build but its the best i can do. Not much support here in oz as i think iam one of the very few building quattros here. There are only 27 approx urq's and maybe less S2's here in oz
    i will post more soon
    thanks
    mal

Hi Malncol welcome to the forum. You'll find a lot of knowledge here and some great people.

I remember seeing the white swb for sale on pistonheads and eBay, a great starting point. Far as the photos, set up a photobucket account. Upload all your photos to your account then share them on the forum using the photo image link.

When in photobucket it gives you the image links on the right hand side

Copy and paste the "IMG Code"

Link and paste it into your post on here.

ok time for some more photos

after stripping the car the main focus was to see how well they had joined the halfves

it didnt look very nice so i went about cutting the join/floor and reshaping it

had to rebuild the tunnel as well

added extra tunnel for exhaust to get it up and into safer spot
got to go to work now post more tonite

                        removed the old parcel tray

                        cleaning up rear towers

added new tower tops for extra travel and easyer to mount the cage

                        started new parcel tray

more tray and first bar for cage

bend up the cage place into position ,tack together then allow it to drop through the floor so the top can be welded

                          more cage

                          notchers make it easy
                          weld in

base of main hoop under the car with rhs for the underbody protection mounts

                          more of the same

fix the silly rear subframe mounts

                            more of the same
