  • Opinions on tyres??

The Wife's A4 Cabrio (not q) needs tyres.
Cheap sh*t on it at the moment, which have been on it since I bought it.
I don't intend spending a fortune on them (Mich or Conti's), but one of my colleagues reckons that Uniroyal Rain Sport 3 are the Doggies Doo Dah's, and they're priced midway between Budget and Michelins.

    Any opinions??

    Dunlop SP Sport Maxx RT

    or

    Michelin Pilot Super Sport

There are always cheaper tyres but why are all new 'decent' performance cars fitted with Michelin Pilots ?

You get what you pay for. Well worth giving the car / driver every help in an unexpected emergency. Much cheaper that having to claim or repair the car out of your own pocket.

    Just sayin...............

YMMV, and others will no doubt differ in their vehemently held opinions.

Goodyear Efficient Grip, mid range, good wet / dry performance, quiet, decent life, I have run all my non performance cars on them for the last few years....

There's been a lot of good stuff said recently about the Rainsports, enough for me to want to try some.

        S2 Coupe 3B Project

        Ur quattro restoration

        S2 Avant

Boost is the new rock and roll!

Same here, they are excellent. But the performance car gets (or got) Michelin Pilot Super Sports, and for summer 2017 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. In the garage ready for the warm weather.

              Goodyears best midrange,
Michelin or Continental best premium brand.

If non performance car then go Goodyear efficiency grip.
And have PROPPER geometry setup, rear knocks front out and kills tyres.

I've just put 4 new avons and they are new design on the A4 and wow they are fantastic vastly improved the whole drive of the car. The A6 has dunlops on the the front which are superb and avons on the back.

That's the very next thing to be done (hopefully the very next day after new tyres. And before all you purists say that it should be done Before the tyres- my reasoning is that if I put the A4 into Cardiff Audi for a full geometry setup with shocking tyres on it, the lad who's doing the job is gonna take one look at the tyres and think that there's little point in doing the job properly........)

dont shoot me here, but have you any Kwik Fits near you?

they should have Hunter equiptment and do a 2 year/ 8 free adjustments deal for £99........

PM me if you might want any help with someone to set it up etc,

although I would check and make sure it isn't all seized up before you take it anywhere as usually they are no able to adjust within tolerance etc.

                      Cheers, Sean.

Also the geometry needs done before the tyres as if it is jacked up, tyres changed and then geo checked it will always be out due to not being settled suspension wise......

I have used falken tyres for years , always excellent , and budget brand here, but in oz and nz they are premium, go figure .
