  • Koni or Bilstein?

For the front of the coupe (55mm)? Where can I get the Billies, struggling to find the part no? Konis are about £250 delivered the pair...

Being honest, I've got billies up front along with standard springs and I don't find it hard at all...in fact I'd say its more like what the car should've had originally!

Someone speaking with experience for a change.

Bilstines are a superb shock and perform extremely well with Audi Springs. My mates S6 has just had fronts fitted, rears were already changed for billies and the ride is excellent on the standard springs.

On a urs4 I have used konis and Billy's and also spax. Konis weren't good. Harsh but still seemed to bottom out. Billy's were much better and I liked spax too. Not sure that info is transferable to a s2.

I run Bilsteins with standard springs and they are great, on my second set.

just for reference and to help you look, here's some part numbers you might find useful that I got from Yaz; oh, they're for 55mm struts too:
(FWIW Spax were being d!cks and not answering any questions so I went with the billies instead)

Spax PSX Adjustable damper inserts front part: TAG1024-I
Bilstein B6 Sport Dampers front part # 34-030868
                          Rear part # 34-030172
Yaz said "you can use standard springs or lowered up to 40mm max on these dampers" about the billies

I had no complaints about my Koni springs and adjustable damper combo, apart from the ride height not being the same between the front and rear of the car. IIRC they provided about 20mm drop. Koni stopped making them many years ago though. I have them tucked up with a set of struts for a future project

I've run Konis for years but the monotube billies are a tempting option as they offer reduce unsprung mass and increased rigidity over the Konis.
