  • s2 3b driveshafts and hubs

Silly question guys......but what sort of punishment can 3b driveshafts and hubs tolerate? Standing Launches with a bit of wheelspin? Donuts? Are they able to withstand a bit of abuse without getting knackered almost immediatly?

it depends all on how much grip and power you have.
I think the front ones are quite strong but the smaler rear ones break on hard drag launches immediately.

I think you got the big Center Joints in the back at your urquattro.
should be no Problem i think.

Rears will break very easily with 400hp+ and hard launches. I've found they are OK if you load the drivetrain before you pull off and are travelling in a straight line. Pulling out of a side street onto a main road with launch control, high revs, loads one driveshaft far more than the other and snaps the shaft where it enters the outboard CV. Diff lock will help to even out the loads to the rear shafts too.

Oh, and 3B/ABY rears are the same, so should affect both varients in the same way.

Pics of rear shaft from my coupe yesterday. This drive shaft has done 265,000 miles, about 100k of which has been at 600Nm RS2 turbo then GT30..

                  I think it's done pretty well [emoji4]
