  • SWB quattro question

    Hello, I'm new to S2forum.

Was trying to find an answer online and couldn't so though i'd try here.

Is a pre facelift 1983 audi coupe, OK to use for a SWB sport quattro conversion or is a facelift 84' onwards needed, or does it not really matter which one is used.

    Thanks for any help!

It depends on 'if' you want a 4wd car....

Thank's for help, I've heard of people using a non quattro and changing the floor plan, even using Subaru 4WD, just haven't seen a 83' being used.

This guy used a FWD coupe, but it doesn't say what year.... http://www.speedhunters.com/2012/09/...lt-quattro-s1/
I wouldn't be fussed about using Subaru parts or finding a quattro system, I wouldn't change the front windscreen rake so not trying to win beauty contests, it would be a used and abused replica.

A 2wd wheel drive S1 replica is like a fwd drift car. Not much point

Well, if you want to go that far I can't see a problem with using a '83 coupe for it. Obviously a coupe quattro is the better option but there are not that much in NZ I guess? Not that there are much left over here.

Exactly, it could be a while before a cheap coupe quattro comes up in NZ, Of course if i get a GT it's gotta be converted to 4wd, one way or another. But thats good to hear about '83 models.
