  • Prop shaft length for AAN/01E into 1990 CQ?

For a friend who is swapping a "built" AAN into a 7A CQ using the UrS6 01E five speed and I think the UrS6 rear diff (maybe just the gears in the 7A rear diff case).

Any BTDT's regarding how much the prop shaft needs to be shortened? He only wants to do it once.

PS: I did an advanced search on the S2Forum but didn't find the answer I am looking for.

I am being told elsewhere to just use a B2 A80q (4000 q over here) drive shaft. Not very easy to find over here. Anybody know the length of the B2 A80q drive-shaft, flange to flange?

Not sure I've even seen the exact dimensions as over here its easy just to fit the front half of an ABY prop. If it was me i'd take off the 01A, measure it side-by-side with the 01E then get the prop adjusted - thats what I did with my 0A3. Depends how quick your man is hoping to get the job done i guess.

i've heard this as well but i think it's the 80 swb - 2 door quattro saloon prop you need...

Never knew the wheel base of the 2-door 80 quattro was different to the 4-door?

28mm if using a single-mass flywheel without the spacer.

Thanks. So this was a 3B and which transmission into a CQ?

                    I've came across 3 figures: 23mm, 24.5mm and 27mm.
What is thickness of dualmass ABY/ADU plate between engine and gearbox?

With the AAN and its 01E five spd, there is no spacer plate between them.

True, but in case if smb wants to make propshaft conversion with installing ABY/ADU flywheel, the up-mentioned figures might be corrected.

Over here, flywheels are not an issue. The SMFWs that are used instead of the OE DMFWs are always set up with the proper SMFW clutch plate. There are no spacers used over here, at least on any C4 UrS4/S6s with 01E transmissions, including the later B5 S4 2.7tt DSY/EDUs.

We had propshafts from b2 80 DZ and b3 90 NG. Difference was ~ 5 cm.
B2 propshaft was fitted to b3 with AAN and 5spd 01E without spacer.
