  • Audi 200 4.2 V8 to be

    hmm.. here we go..
this is mine new project and former project from RS200 member from this forum..
    http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41250
for now 200 has no heart (working) but it will get the new one that is an ABZ engine from A8 D2... 300hp.. making it with manual transmition bla bla..
it should be a sleeper to scare the "big" boys away..
For now the engine is "fitted" just for sketch of new engine mounts... cuz none fit
we are about 60-70% done for now...
i will post more pictures as i work on the car

If a 200 was a Type 44 C3 and the Audi V8 was a Type 44, why don't the Audi V8 ABH motor mounts work?

Audi v8 (typ11) mounts don't fit the engine.. and d2 engine mounts are different positioned .. driver side is lower and the passenger side is about 3-4cm closer to the firewall and about 12-15cm lower than original 2.2 engine mounts..
I have both sets of mounts..
If i use d2 mounts they will be to low and wil hit on the drivetrain.. i hope that you understand now..

Oh yeah the 200 is typ44 and v8 is typ d11..

I guess where I was going is I know the ABH can be fit into a C4 which is similar to a C3. It was done by the factory and it was recently done in the US into a C4 avant that was formerly a V6 autobox. I do not know the differences between the ABH and the ABZ.

        Good luck with your project.

The "problem" is that 200 and V8 had some things made different in the engine bay..
I know about the ABH but as it seems i like challenging projects..
Thank you.. i hope everything will be ok..

I belive there are differences with the 016 and 01e/a gearboxes. The 016 input shaft needs a pilot bearing in the crank whereas the 01e uses a bearing in the flywheel itself, so I think the input shaft may be longer on the 016.

There is only one way to find out..
The i5 uses bearing on the flywheel.. i have one at home with bearing.. im just on the way to the garage so i will see..

You can put everything from ABZ into ABH block, and then ABH mounts + subframe

I got a car with ABZ engine for a good price from a friend.. that is why i am making this
i don't see why i would get an ABH block and put everything from ABZ on it.. it only makes the project more expensive..
I only need time to make everything myself.. but hell that is the point in project cars
99% is made by me and only me.. but boy it will make me smile like a small kid with new toy when it will be done..
Don't get me wrong i am only answering in a logic way

My post was about that there is a way when original mounts will fit; actually there is the way to do this project using only original parts, but if your target is to make as much as possible custom parts then it is a different story

That is how the fellow over here (he's in the USofA) put a V8 in his C4. He used an ABH block and ABZ heads and intake manifold, etc. He is tuning it with VEMS.

He used the stock ABH dished flywheel that he had machined to create the "tone ring" for VEMS to work with:

Well he also likes to "play" with project as i see..

Do you have any more pics of that project UrS4boy?

@sailaz.. the easy way for me without extra costs is to project the mounts and use standard ABZ..
We all have that "thing" when we think we are using the best solution for something.. well we think in this way

Does anyone know where I could a tone ring machined round my 200t flywheel.i think it's quite a specialized job
