  • Adrian Flux - Beware hidden charges!

I thought I had a good deal when I had them insure my cabrio, but as it turns out if you cancel the policy there are hidden charges, commissions and so on...

One to scratch of the list forever in my case, really sly with the T&Cs, make sure you read as much of them as you can!

My wife's car and both of my cars won't ever be going with them come renewal time thats for sure!

Those.charges really hack me off. I was on the receiving end once due to a Lloyds policy i had. They said i mistyped the day i owned the car (some 4yrs previous) and wanted to change it by 3days and then charge me 28quid. They told me after the cooling off period, so i told them i would.cancel the policy due to such an **** approach. They said fine but it would cost me 55quid to cancel. I had to pay the 28quid but i cancelled it after a year, would.never use them again and have since spread the word that they are a shower of utter *******s.

Alas, most insurers are total slags

how much fees out of interest? My classic insurance policy stings me £25 every time I change my car but since its a weekend toy I change them often, starting to add up this year

£45 went to them when I took the policy out, £25 cancellation fee, £12 commission - all from a policy that totalled just over £200

From my perspective Adrian Flux can do one now - and ill be quite happy to tell people about their tactics whenever, wherever the subject comes up.

My track car is also insured with them - won't be come renewal time I can guarantee you that, and I was considering moving the S8 over from Sky to them as well as the wife's 500, but nope...

They're *******s like that. One of the only companies that charge you a fortune for prematurely ending the cover (after the 2 week cool off period)

I had to sell a car i had insure with them, and it ended up costing me £170 fo bloody cancel!

            Robbery.

I cancelled mine with Footman James after having the policy live for just over 2 months. (Exported the car) They tried to get me to pay them 4.95 as this was their charge after admin fee and refund of policy... i told them to f... off and hung up then got an email from them saying they had credited me 4.95 and that all was square. Wtf....
Anyway, they are now also off my list....

Personally I like them , every other insurer won't take your no claims into account if it's in use on your other car ... they do

With Footman James, if you have gone for a limited mileage policy, its unfortunately a case of not being caught out by the small print. I have a classic policy with them and its on the lowest mileage they offer - 1500 miles. When I took the policy out, they explained people were taking out the policy, doing 500 miles a month and cancelling it after three months. Hence my policy does not allow cancellation / pro rata refund after the 14 day cooling off period. Fine for my 205 GTi which I am never ever selling. But would be useless on a car you were looking at swapping in the near future (for example, Lees situation etc)

That makes sense on limited mileage. I've noticed the classic policies don't accrue NCD now either. Found them quite good otherwise

Mine doesn't - but on the other hand, I didn't need any no claims to start the policy either at a blindingly good price! Flux quoted three times Footman James with my 205 insured as my second car
