  • Who has cleared snow from their property and / or from outside their house?

Just interested, as most around here have not and it's now completely lethal to go anywhere. Before anyone moans about the legality of it or being sued, even the councils and government have released information dispelling this myth and have issued guidelines on how to perform the task properly!

For example (from Brissol City Council):-

No, I'm lazy so just sat on my backside and laughed as the old lady nextdoor fell over and broke her hip

No, as I was scared to do anything in case of reprisals.

Yes but I only did my own land and did not do the public land, in case of reprisals.

Yes, I cleared my own land and / or the path / road in front of my house, as it's quite clearly the right thing to do.

      • If there's no salt available, sand or ash are good alternatives.

Lol I can picture the locals in their high vis jackets, shovel in one hand, fag in mouth and salt shaker in other hand small salt shaker and a packet of 20 might clear a doorstep!

Is this a paying job or voluntary? Good old Bristol City Council lol

Yep, mine and my neighbours... and put grit down, although its been snowing all day today so its struggling to keep the snow at bay now.

That said, i live at the end of a private road, so no ****er should be down here walking their dog or making their way to the shop anyway

I didnt put any salt down this year because the last time i did, my concerete broke up
The snow here hardly last a day on my drive.
I went for a run this morning and most the footpaths were clear of snow but VERY slippery from ice. The paths that still had snow left on them were kind of better but you had to be careful not to twist an ankle.

Yep did our house, the parents and my sisters house all cleared and gritted. Couldn't bare the thought of anyone of my family slipping and causing minor injury or worse. Only took a hour or so but well worth the effort and good bit of exercise in doing so.

Snow melts so I view it as a self solving problem.

Cleared mine and the elderly neighbours (quite a few of them) but then got roped into (by her indoors) to get shopping for the neighbours.. Thats all before driving 45 miles to work for a night shift!!

surprised she didn't ask you to move car seats around instead

Went to work on Friday and only had a handful of trades on site so had very little to do. Rather than stand idle I assembled my labourers together, armed them with shovels and yard brooms and we hit the streets outside our site creating a walkable path on the pavements and a useable pair of traction lines on the road. Funnily enough no-one complained and we did receive a few thank-you's. Bring back the community spirit!!

I avoided that request.. She can get to the washing machine to do her duties and thats all that matters really

I drive straight in and out and don't bother clearing. If it gets real bad the next door neighbours son goes to the farmyard across the road and comes with his jcb and clears it.
