  • How To... Remove the dashboard

Please find this comprehensive guide to this joyful task in the following link... it is honestly not as bad as I thought initially.

Good work Paul! What is the level of sound deadening on the dash itself and underneath it? :mischeif:

Can you get Passenger airbag out without removing the dash?

One thing i've learned we are way behind the Scandinavians!

If i remember correctly, you have to remove the glovebox, and than you will see one torx bolt,

undo the bolt (it's a long one) and than you should be albe to pull the airbagunit out.
Take note that there are 2 plugs in the back of the airbag that need to be unplugged carefully.

if you have cruise control, the ECU will be screwed to the dash behind the glove box - needs unplugging before dash can come out

Didn't take enough photos as I went on the S2... Had to nip out and take some snaps off the V6 dash to complete the guide.

Good point on the doors actually.

Also a good point there... should really add that to the guide. If anyone has pics of that and any other photos of how/where the airbags connect that would be good also.

Also take the chance to replace/upgrade the front loudspeakers in the dash whilst it's easier with the dash out.

They'd be easy enough with dash in place unless going up from 10cm diameter - but yes its worth a thought.

Next step for me is to try and identify a lot more of the dreaded wiring plugs on the loom under there and associate them with the schematics - oh joy !

Airbags have a reserve battery, but yes I should add a disclaimer about this for airbag models in case they are especially sensitive.
