  • driveshaft bolt removal

had a quick look at the front driveshaft bolts yesterday (whilst getting soaked!) and couldnt decide if they were normal hexagonal heads or those annoying other type, forgotten the name now

so what sort of bolts are they?

Hex 6mm I think, they are NOT torq. Make sure you drive the allen key all the way in or you will round the head.

so imagine 4 squares layed on top of each other 20 deg apart, so that it makes a star pattern, so there are 12 points, each with a 90deg point

Actually now I come to think about it, I think the S2 is 10mm 12 point spline not 8mm.

I got a set of the halfords lifetime warranty ones (about £25)

Seem to work and have lasted better than the snap on ones did.

You can bash a socket over the head if the multi spline rounds out.

Make sure you hammer the bits in properly.

They should not strip if you clean the heads out properly and get the bit properly seated, they are designed for very high torque bolts
