  • Mtm Rs6

Was reading EVO mag earlier and it says that on the MTM upgrade there is a butterfly flap inside the exhaust which open ups further up the rev range.

Is this one that will open at say 3000rpm to make exhaust straight thru and retain some back pressure below to aid low down torque or am i barking up the wrong tree?

does it have any other benefits?

I would imagine that's what it does. The lupo GTi has a similar valve in the exhaust to do just that. In this case though it is primarily for sound levels when pottering about and not to reduce back pressure (which it also does by design)

      3 stages:

      1) On low RPM they are closed so the loudness of exhaust reduced
      2) On high RPM they are opened for a free flow and the sound of the car is like a real cross car.
      3) When engine is off they are opened to quicly drop off the pressure.

Made for nice sound nothing more.

This system is the same as for Audi TT 3.2

Other features of the RS6 MTM exhaust system :

first pair of CAT's are deleted. Second pair replaced by RACE CAT's.
