I'm replacing my 3B headlamps with the ABY projector lamps, could someone PLEASE post a guide on re-wiring it so the dipped beams stay on when you hit the brights? TIA!

Feel I owe you interest on this one Mik - especially after your time and expense with the new fangled forum. Problem is this info is buried DEEP in the schematics and I only have a partial set for car before 1994. Erwin is such a mess that when I ordered the 1992 set of 80 schematics that I got the 1994 set of Cabrio & Coupe schematics instead (which aren't listed anywhere).
Who ever feckin' said the Germans are organised Erwin is so frustrating that way - and as for their tech support - well lets just say its a bit lacking. Patience dear boy

The only obvious difference is in the stalk switchgear - you can see different internal wiring for the later type headlight switch which allows the the normal beam to stay illuminated when the high beams are turned on.
Have to look at ETKA and see if that theory is borne out with regards switchgear.
Dunno if the later switch can plug directly into the location of an old one and accept the old connector. I'm assuming you have 8 (eight) pins on your headlight flash/dim switch ?

Further investigation leads me to believe that a short circuit applied between pins 7 and 8 (seven & eight) of the 3B headlight flash switch (with 2.5sqmm cable) will have the desired effect of keeping dipped beams ON when the high beam position is selected. Do this directly between those two pins with a short section of cable.
This ties pins 56 and 56b together. If it is possible, it would be cleaner to swap the existing yellow wire on pin 56b over to pin 56 where it would be commoned with the always on output from the light switch (which enables the fog light relay for one thing).
Terminal 56b on the 3B style light switch is a switched output (which goes off when you select high beam) so just shorting it with T56 is no problem - as long as you don't expose the thinner cable out of T56 to the higher current demands of the dipped beam circuit - hence the comment about connecting to the actual pin on the switch - not be T'ing into the existing white cable at T56 (pin 8).
No guarantees of course - need you to check it with a multimeter first...

I've upgraded mine 2 month ago. It only needed to move the thgick yellow wire to 56b (which was marked 8 on my plug).
There is a german manual available at http://www.meckisfaq.de/antworten/au...p89_de/de.htm.
I hope that helps.Marcel
