I thought I’d offer it out on here first as you guys are most likely to appreciate this wee beast.
For sale is my D2 A8 it’s the facelift version in the best sport specification with quite a few factory options. I can’t justify keeping both this and my B6 S4 whilst having a rather large house renovation on the go.
Facelift gives:
Sport spec gives you the following obvious differences over a non- sport:
This particular car has the following factory options:
The car is fitted with a sequential twin condenser LPG system with tank located in the spare wheel well. The system works superbly, with zero difference driving on petrol or lpg. I’m no stranger to LPG systems as my b6 s4 is also LPG converted. The system on the a8 is excellent! Approx. 200miles range on the tank. LPG is less than half the price of petrol, so when the car gets 20mpg the equivalent is over 40mpg.
I bought the car as a non-runner as something to tinker with on the weekends. Ive spent a fair bit of time and money on it getting it running as well as it does.
The main problem that caused this car to be a non-runner was a dead fuel pump that had been bodge repaired in the past, using some new parts and spares from a donor in a local scrappy, I collected all the individual parts to assemble an un-bodged fuel pump basket with a brand new pump. (This job was a nightmare and took months to find the parts, let alone the fitting which involved some serious internet research and copious tea/swearing) The front suspension was knackered, so all the front suspension arms and bushes have been replaced for new, its tight as a tiger on the front now. This was another pain of a job as the car originally had Aluminium front uprights, which all of the bolts were seized into solid. They’re very soft and although I was very careful I damaged one of the uprights. I did though eventually manage to purchase a pair steel front uprights from a slightly earlier D2, these are far stronger and are now fitted to the car.
I’m told that the engine had an expensive rebuild /overhaul before it went off the road. Although I have no proof of this I’m inclined to believe it. The engine is very smooth and pulls very strongly (surprised how little different it feels to the 4.2 in my b6) and it uses absolutely no water or oil.
Ive also fitted the following new parts over the last year:
Ive also fitted the following used parts: Front and rear bumpers (from another A8 in the same colour, but were in significantly better condition. (Unfortunately the parking sensors now do not work, they did with the old bumpers and I have all 8 sensors from the old bumpers, so you should have the parts to fix if you’re bothered, it is a long car so probably a good idea!). Used Steel front suspension uprights. And a few pieces of trim here and there that had been lost or broken
A few niggles to deal with:
MOT due September time. Currently 155k ish on the clock.
Although the MOT is 6 months old the car has only covered a few hundred miles since. So tyres and brakes are as new. Car currently in use, so can be test driven. The car is fitted with a private registration A8 ###, this is included in the sale.

A few niggles to deal with:
- Parking sensors (mentioned already)
- Occasional clicking coming from one of the climate control flap motors (I think its for the rear vents as it sounds like it comes from the centre console.
- Suspect slight blow from the exhaust.
