  • My audi 90 quattro

    Hi all,

I wanted to write about my car here for ages but it was not in good shape to be written about.

    So I will start now.
Car in question is Audi 90 quattro 20v model with NM engine code.
    Year of manufacturing is 1989.
It had manual cimate but it was removed since it did not work.
It is pretty rare care and even harder to find in Serbia.
Car was siting in one place for quite a long period.
So I took it from my brother and start dooing repairs.
Since I do not have garage to work in I have been witing workshops more often.
I do mostly some minor reparis that does not require big tooling.
I have fixed a lot of things but many thigs are still not working correctly.
Engine misfiers and I need to change all rubber parts on suspension.
Suspension is not a problem for mechanics here to resolve. But nobody knows how to fix problems on engine.
I have seen that diagnostic cables have been deleted for some reason so I will need to make new ones.
I will go to a igniton specialist and I hope he can resolve it. If not I will need to do it.
There are other issues but they are in low prio until engine ignition is fixed.

I will add new pictures after.

I will update when I have more news. [emoji2]

The NM engine is basically a 20 valve 7A engine with a shorter throw crankshaft to create a 1998 cc engine that brought it under the 2L insurance and tax break limit in countries like Italy, Spain and Portugal.

Ignition issues can most likely be resolved by following 7A ignition diagnostics and fixes. First thing to check would be the distributor and rotor, wires and spark plugs.

Suggest that you have a read through this:

        Good luck.

Start the engine in dark location. Lift the bonnet/hood and look for sparks jumping. (spark plug wires, distributor cap, etc.)
