  • Sketchy 944 Turbo???

So I am always on the lookout for a really nice late edition 944 Turbo S and this has cropped up on ebay at what can only be described at a stupidly low price.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Porsche-94...sAAOSwGotWrjjc

    I sent an email to the seller using the email address supplied and just got a reply back from a totally different email address. Here is my email to them followed by their response;

    Hi

I have been looking for a 944 Turbo for a while, so have seen yours come up for sale.

Can you confirm why the price is so cheap? What is wrong with the vehicle? It must be worth more than you are asking?

You mention some bits that need attention. Can you confirm what these are please.

Just out of interest, why advertise it on ebay? You have zero feedback and have only just registered an account. Just seems an odd way to sell a car. Sorry if that sounds add but with the price being so cheap, it just does not add up.

    Thanks for your help

    Hello,
I still have the Porsche 944 turbo for sale, the condition is excellent and it has no damages or any faults.Hpi clear. All necessary documents available. My current location is Scotland due to my work commitments. If this is going to be a quick sale, I will let it go for £4,000 delivered at my costs.
The deal will go through eBay and PayPal.

Ha ha, not to sketchy then? Do they think someone will actually fall for this? Never seen this sort of effort on ebay with a car but have with other items. I guess I should report it as it must be dodgy.

    Whadya reckon?

No chance of me ever being brave enough to fall for this ha ha. Just filed a report on bay of thieves, so will be interesting to see if it is taken down or not. I mean jeez, it is at least a £15k car if not more. Idiots.

I had EXACTLY the same response for 3 different Land Rover discoveries! It's a complete scam!!!!! Ask more questions and the answers make no sense at all.

Is she claiming her name is Lucy again or has she picked another name this time?

Still Amy but you are right, the replies are getting more bizarre, so I stopped replying but I have not got time to be honest but it is quite funny.

I suppose they are doing this now so that paypal covers the cost of their fraud if you complete via ebay. Cheeky beggars.

They had used photos of previously sold cars when I looked into it more. Nothing ever existed!

Yeah I would imagine this is a picture of someone elses pride and joy that was sold at one time or another.

Out of curiosity I had to open the eBay link...
Not that the advert reads suspect, and with the info from Cottis; no correlation between user name, email address, selling location and pick up location.
Let alone the price is ridiculous. Are they just hoping that some idiot is gullible enough to pay in full, or pay a deposit?

Anyway, if anyone needs use of a barge pole, I have one

I'd not checked but I did report the advert yesterday, so maybe ebay actually acted on it which is good.

I'm currently shopping for an XC90 and the classifieds are riddled with fraudulent ads, it's shocking.

Some people are hijacking dealer email accounts to make them look real too. If any ad says email me with your phone number and I'll get back to you it's dodgy.

Most dodgy was this one though that I reported on SRS... http://audisrs.com/about63229.html

Ha ha, that is properly sketchy is that one. Why anyone would send money in advance for a car they had never seen/viewed is beyond crazy but I guess these people rely on idiots. If it is too good to be true....

Out of interest, I did a full company search on Drivon Transport from a dissolved point of view (I work in finance and have an Experian account)

                          The Director is

                          CARL ROBERT HEINRICHS
Address 203, SELVBYGGERVEIEN, OSLO, OSLO, NORWAY
Date Of Birth 08 May 1955
                          Nationality NORWEGIAN

Companies like this pop up all the time. You have grunts who work in the country registering all these companies under the name of whoever wants it setting up. It would not surprise me if there were 100's of companies set up from this address in Devon. I cannot be arsed to check but it just goes to show, view the car, check it out fully after matching VIN's etc and performing relevant HPI's and never take anyones words for anything.

                          Swindlers!!!
