A6 C4 AEL 2wd Fuel Tank Retaining Straps

A rattle from underneath the car started a couple of days ago and I've managed to have a look this morning. Rather than another exhaust rubber having gone it turns out my front fuel tank retaining strap has rusted through and the tank has dropped down a few inches. Obviously it's not safe to drive the car in this condition so I need a replacement as soon as possible.

Anybody know if these straps are available new from anywhere or does anyone have a good condition second hand one going spare?

Last ones I replaced came from TPS. Cheap.
Would be very easy to fabricate.

You should be able to make them yourself or somewhere. It's just a strap.

How long ago did you last change them? I would have thought they'd be NLA long ago. I have a local TPS so I'll drop by tomorrow and see if they can get me some.

Agree they should be easy to fabricate. Even the T section end should just need a tickle with the grinder to get the shape right.

Probably three or four years ago.

Front strap is 49 +vat
Rear 109+vat
Ones they told me how much they are
I made it my self
Used 35mmx2mm steel starp
Just welded original audi ends on them,
You will see what I mean ones you got old one off

All sorted. Ordered a new strap from TPS yesterday morning, picked it up this morning and have just finished fitting it. Not a difficult job but getting the car high enough up in the air to get access was fun.

Must have got a bit of discount as it was £44.74 + vat. Luckily there were two of them in the UK warehouse.
