  • 20V CQ Tidy Up

I've bought a scruffy 20V CQ with no MOT or Tax with the aim of tidying it up, back to its former glory
The body work is in fairly decent order, the paint could do with a bit of resoration work but should clean up nicely. Mechanically it seems sound, quite a bit of money seems to have been spent pretty recently so its mostly cosmetic, a few wear and tear replacement parts needed and a load of little niggling issues.

Apart from 2 jobs I think I can handle it all myself - some advice is required about these two issues - i'll get to them in a minute.

Most of the main problems are electrical. It drained the new battery i forgot to take out out last night so something is wrong.
The Autocheck does not seem to function at all and the LCD does not display anything, There is a constant warning beep from it though on ignition.
All the lighting works fine as does the electric mirrors.
The sunroof slides back fine but can only open about half way 'upwards'.
Diff lock switch is broken i think.
    Some switch illumination is out.
The heater fan only blows on the highest setting

The passenger window only lowers about 2 inches then gets stuck so i'm guessing the mech needs changing.
Drivers door lock needs fixing - cables come off i think.
The PAS pump is leaking by the look of it

Quite a few bits have been done recently -

    new wishbone bushes
    new ball joints
    new solid brake lines
    New ABS sensors
    New / rebuilt head
All the bushes and joins look fine
The rear calipers need rebuilding - handbrake cables look good.

    Here he is

Looks like a recent head - broken / cut?? heat sheild, but its the tubular fannymould

    New Radiator me thinks

Big of a knock on the n/s wing

Bonnet has had a bit of a knock, and been repaired pretty poorly

parhaps throwing the panel gaps out against the wing here??

Bit of rust o/s front wing

    Filthy interior

Drivers seat is fooked. Bolster collapsed and lift cable broken

LCD on clock is fooked but all the instruments ok. 167k on the clock.
I'm wondering if the instrument's connections are knackered meaning the autocheck doesn't work. It looks like there are some unplugged connectors behind the d/s dash copartment under the steering wheel

Now for the bits i doubt i can deal with myself - some advice and opinions much appreciated

Leak in drivers side front of the cabin, carpet is damp. i think the windscreen is leaking from the top of the A pillar seal. Any ideas how to sort this out?

        Thsi is the worst part
There is damage to the n/s front sill where someone has jacked it incorrectly
It is not pretty, but not holed - surface rust really. I wondered about cutting it out and welding in a plate, but that is also the jacking point in a mess - so looks like it might be a specialist job and expensive Any ideas how this can be sorted? Or an idea of cost?

Could just be something simple like the bulb gone, the dash bulbs are easy to change, the ones for the switches the fronts just lever off if gentle with them exposing the bulbs.

The door lock if lucky is just something loose, mine was the metal actually broke. Nice project tho, good luck.

Not sure about the welding of the sill point, could be done just depends whats the best way of doing it, the top of the windscreen from what i've been told is rivited in on the inside so if you take the trim off on the inside you should see how its held on. IIRC its also a bit of a pain to do, but do-able.

The leak may be the sunroof drain is blocked.
