  • 1999 Audi Cabriolet 2.8 auto final edition

I'm selling my Audi Cabriolet as I don't have space to keep it having just bought an MGB.

    It is a final edition in Santorin blue pearl with a black hood, it has covered only 62000 miles and has almost every option available, I have not seen another with such a high spec. It has;
    - Electric hood
    - Sports option inc 17" Bolero wheels and 3 spoke leather S-Line steering wheel
    - Fine nappa leather sports seats in sesame
    - Heated front seats
    - Walnut interior trim
    - Audi Delta stereo with 6 CD changer and optional active rear speakers with built in Sub
    - Air conditioning
    - Trip Computer
    - Autocheck
    - Cruise Control
    - Ski bag
    - Remote central locking with factory alarm/immobiliser

It has a reasonable amount of service history, some of it Audi and some independent. Since I've owned it I have serviced it myself and have done a 60k service and recently an oil change service. When I bought it I made sure I was buying the very best I could find. In addition I have spent quite a large amount of money on getting it to top condition, most notably replacing 2 of the hydraulic rams for the convertible roof which were leaking. As well as many other small jobs, I have all the receipts to prove.

It is the top of the range 2.8 V6 with a four speed auto box, it drives without fault and has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. It is MOTed until mid April and taxed until the end of May. I have the document wallet complete with the owner's handbook and service book as well as all the other guides supplied with the car.

There are a couple of bad points I feel need to be mentioned. The first is that the front bumper has scuffs on both corners and the rear bumper has a crack of about 6" along the top, although none of these are immediately obvious when looking at the car as not much paint has been removed. The rear screen has gone cloudy like they all do, I intended to have it replaced but I have got so used to it it hasn't troubled me. There is also some wear to the driver's seat bolster, the leather is fine but it would benefit from being re-coloured. Overall, considering the car is 12 years old it is in excellent condition.

Taking the faults into account, I am asking £2500 which I think is a bargain considering what I paid for the car and what I have spent on it. I am only advertising it on forums for the moment as I would like it to go to an enthusiast, but I will be advertising it more widely in a few days time.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Do you mean the car parked next to it? If so it's not, it's a 1963 Volvo Amazon 121 P130.

Here it is before I took the wing off to repair a bit of rust.

Hi mate, just wondering if you are still selling your cabrio, I know it's a bit late in the year now as you posted this a wee while ago, but you never know, eh!

            Thanks in advance.

I'm afraid I sold it in May, good luck with your search.

I've been watching this for the last few weeks & recognised the photos from your original ad.
Is it just me, or does it smell a little fishy in more ways than one?
That's a lot of mileage to clock up in six months for a start!?!
Did it go to Northern Ireland by any chance?
I'd be half interested in it (having a donor for the Merc too), but I just doesn't tally.... !

Edit: Lovely car by the way - when you owned it at least!
Long term plan is to source one for summer use & this pretty much ticks all the boxes...

That is a total scam, this is the third time I've had the pictures used that I know of. One of the others had used my description as well. I don't have the time to check all the classifieds to report each one, especially this long after I sold it. I'll just have to live with it I suppose. I can't see what he is trying to achieve by using my pictures as it will be very apparent that it is a different car if anyone goes to see it! Also WTF is that free Merc with no MOT all about? The car actually went to some nice Aussies who lived in Cambridge, I don't expect it to be in Northern Ireland or to have done 35k miles in that time!

                  Thanks for pointing it out,

I suspected as much Matt! Not many for sale in Ireland as a whole & especially not for such small money.
Maybe the antipitheans did a round the world trip in it & ended up in NI!?!
That Merc bit makes it sound so much more genuine - don't you think!

I've reported the ad which is about as much as I can do, I'm not really sure what the scam is but I don't like my pictures being used. I don't get why anyone would try and give a car away when selling another one, it just seems dodgy. If it was genuine he could just stick the Merc on eBay and get a few hundred for it and should still be able to ask that for the cabriolet anyway. They must be holding their price better in Ireland as I did struggle to get what I wanted for mine, even at the start of the summer.

I reported it myself last night too & in fairness to donedeal, it was taken down quite promptly.
80 cabrio is a rare enough sight over here & residuals appear to be strong.
