Some time ago I've purchased an Audi 4000cs.
This is the one:

Right after quattrostyle ordered his, I was wondering if there is any other left, went to ebay, found this one, contacted the Seller and asked him if it's possible to ship it to Germany.
He said it's OK, for 850 USD.
So I've decided to buy it.
I didn't mention anything on the forum because my mechanic Pas_Bogdan is crazy about these cars (the B2 chassis) and I wanted to make a surprise / prank to him.
Especially because when I found the car, I showed the car to him and he said he would be very jealous if I got that car.
I had one problem when receiving the car, the German Customs Office noticed a discrepancy in the VIN from the papers and the VIN from the chassis.
I've contacted then several forum members, and asked them what is going on.
Everything was OK, apparently in that time, the US VINs were different from Europe VINs and that is why there was a small change in the VIN in ther papers.
In the end, I've managed to convince the Customs guys that everything is in order.
I've received the car yesterday and it's nothing as it was described (mint condition).
I am a perfectionist so I am saying that from my point of view.
But I was expecting this. A car that old cannot be mint. Maybe for a way higher price.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think the car is a piece of crap, it's OK. But mint condition? No way!
The main things I was hoping the car to have are there, so I am about 90% happy about purchase.
So I was looking for:
1) No rust - the car has no rust anywhere. Not even in the trunk under the spare wheel. I found water there, lots of water (will have to inspect where it came from) but no rust!!! It's incredible. I own another 3 Audi B2 and they all have problems. But this one doesn't have 1 mm of body rust.
The underneath looks like from the factory!!!
2) Straight chassis - the car is well put together, we searched for signs of accidents, but everything looks fine.
3) Overall OK condition - which it has.
The AC works, only 3 of the windows work, the heating seats doesn't work, the cruise control works, the sunroof works, the electrical side mirrors doesn't work, the engine sounds ok, it pulls ok, etc.
In my opinion, the car needs:
- a repaint (good thing I will be opening my own paint shop soon )
- refurbished or other interior (it's not on my liking anyway)
- changing all the fluids of the car + the timing belt kit (will be done these days)
- other small bits like the non working 4th windows, the heating seats, etc...
So it's not much in my opinion.
Maybe somebody is wondering the total cost of the purchase. It's 6000 Euro.
So I was saying, I received the car yesterday and it was time to surprise Bogdan. So I called him, and told him he needs to come in my city (170 km away) but he wasn't willing because he had a lot of work.
I've convinced him by saying that he must get a car here from a stupid kid who damaged his fathers car and he wants to repair it as soon as possible but outside the city.
Bogdan came, and "we were on our way" to the "client" when Bogdan sees a B2 which had the quattro sign on the back, and also what looked like a for sale sign on it. So instantly we turned around and went to see what's what

After the prank we had a coffee and Bogdan took the car to his city so he can made a basic service to it so I can drive it relaxed without worrying something might brake.
After he drove it 170 km, he was very excited about the car, kept saying it's way better than an S2, he really loves the car, how it drives, how well put together is, how it pulls, how it handles, etc.
Ever since I told him the car is mine, he was only a smile
Maybe I will make an exchange with him, his S2 for my B2
