what brand of oils would you recommend that i replace the original (and no doubt destroyed!) gearbox and diff oils with? any idea what the quantities are?
the box and diff are both still silent and i'd like to keep it that way for as long as possible!
thanks for that information, andy. i take it that the price at the dealer isn't too tragic in comparison to buying decent oil online? excuse the ignorance but what is NLA additive?
I'm in the same boat.I will receive the 6speed 01E on tomorrow.Whilst searching on the local online store shop for gear oil,I only found GL-5
Brass killer oil spilled over.GL-4 seems to be very hard to get one right here.Last time(40,000kms) i did change the gear oil on my CBD 5speed.
I got 3quartz of gear oil from Dealer for 100quids
I found Motul300 75W-90 GL4/5 , Redline MT-90 GL4 ,Amsoil Synthetic
All of them has been discussed on various perspectives but seems Redline
didn't produce the oil itself.
my lazy solution just for a peace of mind is drain those oil out of 5speed and fill up the 6speed. and save another 100quids
i agreed with Des.additive is no longer required for the modern oil.
typically our car has a 20yrs old gearbox design whilst the new oil
is keep improving and more advancing from day to day.
