  • 1992 Pearl White (3b) For Sale

Update Feb 22 2017 , New Price and Conformation that Car was confirmed as Cat C in 2002

Due to some unpredicted work changes taking place during 2017, I’m planning on selling my S2, as I realistically won’t have the time to be here and enjoy it.

This was my third S2 since 2003, first a standard aby and then a Nothelle N300, I bought this car in feb 2015 after 6 years without an S2, the car was known on the forum having been through various forum members over the years.

I’d planned during this year to change both sub-frames as they are showing signs of corrosion, they are salvageable and I’d planned to get them refurbed once removed and sell on, as I’d already sourced replacements for both front and rear and these will come with the car, the car will also come with a collection of spares (detailed below).

I’ve done the usual oil and filter replacements over the last two years (detailed below, as is other work recently done), the car is used weekly so mileage will increase.

Car has a few age related marks etc and has had paint at some point over the years.

    Mot Advisories
Front and Rear Sub frames showing signs of corrosion
Rear wheel bearing has slight play offside

This Car was registered as a Cat C in 2002, this showed up during a HPi Check by a prospective buyer back in January, previous to this I was unaware of this status.

                      Update Jan 14, 2017

I was informed by a prospective buyer today ( a great guy called Connor) that an hpi check shows that this was a Cat C in 2002, this was news to me as i'd never did a hpi check on it before purchasing (my stupidity), and that the previous ads for this car on the forum (from memory) didn't mention the Cat C status.

So at this point I'm withdrawing this car for sale until I do some further research of my own.

Thanks to all who enquired about the car, but i believe this is the right thing to do at this time.

That's a real shame Eric. Looks like a lovely car too. Unfortunately the Cat marker will put some buyers off, however, it doesn't mean that it wasn't repaired properly or that there was even much damage. Shame the previous owner/s didn't pass on the information. Got me worried enough to pay for a check on mine today, as I had taken the word of the garage I bought it from 10+ years ago.

Just spoke to a friend today who's just bought a Sierra Cosworth, it was "categorised" some years ago for needing a door skin and a set of locks..........Big Deal eh !! If it wasn't for the enthusiasts who can see past the stigma then many a cherished car would be broken for bits?

Yours is still a great car Eric.

                              Cat C?

Hi Eric, not a nice thing to find out. Usually though, cat C will need a vic check if that existed back then - that's recorded and dated along with the damage on line 3 on your logbook, and ends up with a non - transferable no. plate so it retains it's identity - line 2 note. You might just have the non transferable reg note if it's old damage. These are off my boomerang 90 20v sport B3 that's a previous cat C

If only it didn't affect values, but when trying to sell the car values were cut by 2/5 to 1/2 what my mate originally wanted. I've had it back (for the 5th time!).

S2's are in demand and desirable, I still would have thought that you'd get close to your asking price as it looks pretty good with the sensible mods it's had.
