  • SQ LWB road car

    Hi everyone,

    I hope to start my project this saturday, the donor car is an audi coupe quattro '86 who I bought one year ago aprox.

    Then I put a coupe quattro '89 road train, except the front struts, also I found an azev A 9x16 ET15 with some tyres for a good price and I bought it, the problem was I needed to redrill my hubs to 4x100, also I have yellow koni adjustable from the outside, on the front and sachs advantage on the rear, and some fenders to keep the wheels inside the car

    For the project I'm going to use an engine who I bought here (golf2r32), wagner IM & EM, holset HX35, IC I don't know, Rs4 MAF, 044 bosch fuel pump, 750cc bosch ev14 injectors, 4bar fpr, s4 wiring, 01E oil cooled (i'm going to use a laminova) DSY gearbox, rear torsen, prospeed engine and box mounts, solid mounts for subframes and poliuretane for control arms, front brakes bmw 7series E38 + 305x28 ibiza cupra rotors, rear brakes I don't know yet, custom exhaust and DP...I think that I don't forget anythink

    My first questions is about the rear quarter panels, what is more structural rigidity 1st or 2nd?? or the same....my rear panel could be fitted like on the 1st, becouse I won't put a roll cage, only a front and rear strut bar...

    from breitling project

    Thanks!

          I would say if you are not fitting the cage the 2nd picture is the stronger shell on its own.

          The way that you mount your wings will also depend on the supplier of the panels as they all got differently.

          The downside to option 2 is when you fit the wings and have a join from steel to fibreglass/Kevlar. Over time the car will crack on the join.

            Looking forward to seeing a 'LWB' sport quattro. Prefer the longer to the short.

            Best wishes for a smooth project.

              @macspring

              Thanks mate, I also think like you and the back seats are an important thing to manage the road homologation...also, my wife's homologation

              @Tonks4x4

              What will you do?? because I don't want to lose stiffness or have cracks on the panels...

              I will use 3M 08115 Panel Bonding Adhesive to paste, and them remove the joins

              I can use more flexible bonding paste, and add a flexible aditive for primer and final paint...like I was painting a motorbike

              @jsws3

              It's for me mate, but I don't discard to make another one

                        Well past saturday I removed a little bit more, door panels and side sills

                        I was thinking about how to fit the rear panels, and I will fit it like in the 1st photo, reinforce de the B pilar with the chasis and I don't know if I could use SQ rear inner wheel arches and reinforces...I think that I can, also depends if are available and the price

                        Another question, were can I buy a front strut bar? good and cheap

                            today removed the rear lights, rear windows and front fenders...I can't wait and I put a front fender to see if it was for a SQ isn't good fit because I need to put the sq sill and cut the botton fender with sill shape

                            Also I found I little bit of rust on the edge, the botton is the rust dust

                            were can I buy a front strut bar? good and cheap...
