So, I am looking at installing alarm system, but after just 10 minutes I realised there are way too many to choose from, starting at £80 all the way into high £££.

So what sort of alarms are you running, expensive or cheap one's? And what you think, are the expensive one's worth it?

A very good bang for buck alarm is the toad ai606, no frills, does what it says on the tin, doesn't go off every 30 seconds and thatcham approved.

    Don't have a clifford EVER

Works out at £250 fitted, not bad at all.

How hard is it to fit alarm system, can it be done at home or rather left ro pros'?

You can fit the ai606 yourself the only issue is it wont be cat 1 certified for insurance. You'd have to get it inspected to get a certificate.

Early C4 Central Locking Control Module Pin-out

Not a Right Click owner (yet) but lots of folks over here have converted their UrS4s with Infrared remote locking to radio frequency using Right Click products.

Here is one DIY write-up on the topic:

Here is some work that I did trying to figure out how to add a RF remote to my 94 UrS4 V8 avant that has no remote locking (just the key in the door or hatch central locking).

And what does that certificate do?

                      I run a 650 with intelli start.

I have fitted the Toads to cars before and always been happy with them. Fitted the 650 because I wanted the intelli start and some of the other features it has. So far been very happy with it.

Certificate might give you a discount on your insurance. Fitted mine whilst I had the dash out to do the heater matrix so it's well buried in there.

I had to jump to this one,in my country there are no certificates or anything need for alarm,so my question is how hard is it to instal this type of alarm?(toads)
I see they are around 150e
I sopose this is the real stuff?

Dude: You completely missed the point.

I don't have infrared central locking either but with that central locking control module pin-out that I did using the factory manual wiring diagrams and the spare module with the wires shown in the photo and an aftermarket radio frequency remote, I will have the ability to create central locking by tapping into the appropriate wires, e.g. the ones that are connected to the door lock(s) and talk to the central locking module.

You will be able to do that too.

When I was searching for insurance, I tried quotes with Cat 1 alarm, and it was higher But I think I'll leave it to pro's to do an install anyways.

Another ai606 vote here. Tilt, shock, proximity, and very stable. Proximity is quite a cool feature, gives 4 discrete pips if somebody/something moves within the adjustable range. Handy little warning to anyone getting a bit nosey.
