  • Need Help Reprogramming a 1994 RS2 key

Not mine (I wish) but someone importing an RS2 (LHD) into Canada. All he has asked is how to reprogram a 1994 RS2 key with a chip in it. I am not sure if that makes it an immobilizer key or not?

Any help or info will be appreciated.

    TIA.

1994 RS2 has defenetely the immobilizer on board.
I did reprogram a 1997 key of a Cabriolet with immo and you need to go to Audi Dealer AFAIK because you need online connection with Audi AG.
30 euros for the programming job and 80 euros for the new key.

You only need the PIN code from the immo, and you can code in new keys via VAG-COM.
For getting that pin code you have two options:
      a) Try to get Audi to give it to you.
      b) Open the immobilizer box and read the serial chip that stores the pin.

      Have fun.

just remembered it does work with the early a6 with the 2x2,so theres a chance it may work with rs2.Vag tacho is very cheap to buy now (at least the copies) so maybe worth a go

Vag-tacho connects to the instrument cluster AFAIK.
In these cars the immobilizer module is not in the instrument cluster, it's a separate unit.

                Immobiliser Box?

                Hi Guys:
1st post here. As Dave F. mentioned I am about to pick up a 94 RS2, but the owner had both his keys de-program on him.So where do I find this elusive "box".Is it in the ECU, or elsewhere.I promise to post more photos when the vehicle is in my driveway. Thanks from Canada.

Wasn't it somewhere behind the back seat?
But either way - if you don't care about the immobilizer, you can just get that turned off.

It would probably be easier to go with a non-immo ECU and fit a good aftermarket immo - that and you dont need to stress about getting keys coded by Audi at silly prices - in the UK they will certainly not offer up the passwd needed for the immo coding sequence for free.

                      +1

Especially considering that the stock immo is useless against anyone who knows what he is stealing.

So just by swapping an ECU,from another car will bypass the immobilizer?

yes thats right,on later cars. For some reason it wont connect to the cluster on the c4 a6

but vag tacho 100% works on the a6 for pulling the code,I recall having my code pulled about 4 years back.I thinks theres a good chance it will on rs2 as they have the same white box i believe?

                            Pretty much...
Or you can modify your current one.

If it is like that, then yes, it will work for the RS2 as well.
