  • Anyone using a hydraulic release bearing?

Pretty sure my INA steel faced release bearing has totally disintegrated. It been noisy since about 100 miles after I fitted it and now it's not rattling on idle but I can feel and hear a horrible crunchy / clattering with pressure on the clutch pedal.
Either that or perhaps the release fork is damaged.

Going the have to remove the gearbox to investigate so looks like ADI is off for me

The reinforced SRE pressure plate is a lot stiffer than OEM and I don't think the OEM type bearing is up to it.

Anyone using a hydraulic release bearing and have any BTDT?

I have used the OE Sachs plastic bearing with SRE pressure plate without issues. Of course not 100k km yet... Something like 5-7k moste likely.

I will take a few measurements with the gearbox off. I saw that AP makes a nice unit, and of course there is a range of options from Tilton

I've had a similar issue with my Southbend Alex. I'm about 5K in and the release bearing is noisy on engagement. Not impressed with the s/b setup at all.

I have a Tilton like that for my twin disc AP-Racing clutch.

I used a Sashs metal faced stock bearing in my 3B with the SRE clutch and it was still going strong before I killed it, must have covered at least 12K miles and I wasn't very kind to it.
