  • Brake Caliper Refurbishing

Going to be refurbing my Girling Twin pots. Going to blast them with pistons in place and then replace pistons and seals. Just trying to decide if they should be painted or powder coated, I have read a few forums that say powder coating will not stand up well for calipers. We're originals just painted? If so, any recomendations on paint?

Originals will have been a bare anti rust treatment, more than likely a zinc coating.

I'd spray them with a high temp paint. Seems to be very good when prepared correctly

I've used a specific high temp caliper paint (in silver) with good success. Make the caliper look like new (and stay that way for a few years).

Here is one brand that we have access to here:

      Just don't do this:

I used two pack paint from brakecaliperspecialistuk - I got black but it's available in many colours. Two coats is lasting very well so far and it has an air of durability about it when dry, it becomes rock hard. Coves very well on a blasted caliper, smooths over the surface nicely
