Diff backlash / CV movement

In the continuing search for a small steering wheel wobble I have, I decided to check the rear driveshafts, as I remembered there was a fair bit or slack back there.

Anyway, inner CVS are fine but outers have a few degrees movement on them, which I assume means it's new CV time?

While I was there, I noticed that there's a bit of backlash on the diff, maybe 5 degrees between output shafts. Thoughts?

Diff is probably ready for some attention
It'll just need re-shimming to reset the lash, crown wheel and pinion plus the bevel gears probably need doing.
Not too bad of a DIY but you need a press. Won't be an expensive job for a specialist, I recon in the £150 region.

7a are meant to be same Andy just input flanges are different that's what I've been told

if you remove the lash in the diff, does it still expose itself in the gearbox? Mine has a ton of lash in it and I have a replacement diff on the bench and also think that my cv's are dry/worn too.

You are just going to prevent undue wear / damage on the diff by adjusting the gear clearances. Likewise CVs - if they are worn, replace or you end up damaging a shaft.
Next time you have the rear end in the air, grab the prop and see how much lash there is in the centre diff. It's massive.
Then you realise that chasing down the driveline shunt is a fruitless exercise
I noticed this immediately after going to the T3 diff on the 0A3 box - the shunt is gone, completely.

Yep mine has a lot of lash, no wonder you get the clank when it takes up drive lol
