There are many many variations of the 01E 6 spd quattro transmission. However, only a few would work in an S2 because of the final crown/pinion needs to be 37/9 = 4.11 to 1 ratio.

We know about the CBLs (edit: removed CET from the 6spd list - it was 5 spd, not 6) in the C4s and the CGR and the CRB in the B4 chassis. The DSY and EDUs from the B5 and C5 chassis work in the UrS C4s and would likely work in the B4 chassis as well.

What specifically did you want to know?

Not Jack, but "hi" back at you.

          (sorry)

Anyway, as far as I can tell, all B3 and B5 five speeds were 01As. Some were 35/9 and some were 37/9 but all were 01As.

In the C4s there were CBD and CET (diesel) 01E 5 spds (I have correct my previous statement, I thought the diesel CET was a 6 spd - its not).

The C4 01E 6 spds were the CBL (as mentioned previously) and the CMG as used in my UrS4 V8 avant (has the oil pump and lines to the trans oil cooler).

              UrS4boy,

remember that I told that I found a RS4 gearbox?
It seems that I won`t be able to buy it.
So I need to find another one, I`m checking all available possibilities.

As I need only the bearings, the final ratio is not an issue, with 2 I can make 1.

              Cheers!

I know this one, but it shows only Audi up to 2001.
I would like to know on witch VAGs, it was factory installed.

Any Passat or something similar, on google I´m facing a hard time to find this info.

It will tedious but you can look through the models and years you suspect using this (remembering that 01E is one clue but the other is 37/9 (I know you say you can change it but it would be easier to start with 37/9)

So my 5 speed is good for a v8 manual swap?

Be more specific. Which 5 spd? Which V8? The 3.6L PT crank has a different flywheel bolt pattern than the 4.2L ABH V8. PT flywheel is relatively flat, 077105269G, unique to the 3.6L V8 in the V8. ABH flywheel in the V8 sedans is a "dog-dish", PN 077105269H, also used in the ABH UrS4s and AEC UrS6 V8s They use different clutch plates as a result.

                        The 3.6L V8 5 spd is a "AWW", PN 016300042F, i.e. not a 01A or a 01E.

The 4.2L V8 manuals in the V8 sedan were either CBM ( 01E300042CX ) or CBN (01E300042DX ) 6 spds. The ABH and AEC V8 transmissions in the UrS4s and UrS6s were CMGs, 01E300043QX.

So the V8 5 speed box is 016 with torsen, same as in 200 20v and late UrQ. i would guess it's because 01A was weaker.
This should mean that the flywheel also is missing the bearing and it's located in crank instead.
