New head gasket!!!

Well my s2 avants gone in for a new head gasket / machining it level and water pump plus stem valves etc 1,250€ estimate hoping theres no crack in the head, waiting on the pressure test.

my problem started after a full service got smoke coming out of the exhaust plus the old coolant leak/loss went from slight to about a litre a mile maybe coincidence im not sure, but it needs doing and my wallet is having a seizure too! i think by the time all this is sorted car will have been off the road for 5 weeks apart from the 2 days after the service i drove it
I have not used the same garage to do the Gasket (audi specialists) as the service (local spanish garage) as my trust in them is a little thin to say the least.

when i spoke to them about it they just shrugged and said head gaskets can go at any time and they dont know why it went.

Past by the garage today they are well underway on the head coming out, plus mechanic has spotted a few seeping hoses so they are being changed a case of seen as they have got access might as well replace them.
pressure on the cylinders were as i was shown cylinder 1+2 are good 3+5 ok and 4 is the probelm.

I think he said this is conclusive on the head gasket being the problem.
The head is off to be skimmed tommorrow.

You may have to put 1 or 2 extra layers of head gasket depends how much you skim of the head.
