Mine has got the s.h.i.t.e wood bollarx stairing at me, I hate it!!
I have changed the door trims, looks lurvly is carbon

I have bought some carbon fibre to cover the wood bit. if it comes off, then I can sort it. If not its getting painted black in sittue!! or may be Noggy....hmmm.

forget it to change the trim, it isnt possible, a friend of mine made it, but it was a fu**** work. I hope you want a working airbag for your passenger.

            Hello,

what about your car skull?? was a long time off line.

no, I havent removed the trim, I gave the complete airbag to the painter.

here is a video how you change the trim, but it should be no people working on the airbag without a certificate!! I have one of Audi (I work there )

              How??

Have seen the video but in this case there are no airbag inside. When you pull out the airbag box completely how do you then take out the bag? Is it easy or can something be damaged if you dont have the right tool or something.

Really need to know this. Sick and tired of driving around in a boat.. toot toot

If you remove the passengerside glovecomparment
above that you will see the Airbag in its full glory and you easy sort out
                  how to thake that out

Beware : always disconnect the BATTERY

and when you change or disconnect the airbag ,the Airbag light on
your dash will stay on and must be reset by the dealer.

                      I there!
                      me and a couple of RS2 owners/friends bought a damaged (back) RS2......
we put the car down to bits for spare parts (yes yes i know we are cannibals!)
                      and trow away the chassis.....

about the trim in the passenger airbag..............
i must tell you (like others told you already) that really you DON'T want to take that thing out!

the trim it's locked from behind............that means you have to take out the bag......
                      from behind...........
and put everything back in position............

well i wonder when on ebay they sell the complete set of trims in carbon for the RS2
will they give you the step by step instructions for fitting?

we discover this because for a bit of fun.......at the end of the job we set/blow off that particular airbag (i wanted to know badly how the trim was fixed! i dreamed about that carbon when i had my S2 3b).........nice BANG must said..............
if you ask..........yes the trim was damaged during the process
but we discovered that it's real carbon fiber no fake pretending material

                      Ciao Stefano

                      P.S.
the airbag warning light will go on if you take off any airbags connection with the key switched ON and it will stay on til a VAG setting.....

but no problem if you loose a connection if the key is OFF for the whole time and switched on after the connection will be put back in position

easy to assume that disconnecting the battery is the best solution all over

i know this is an old topic but this might be useful for someone.
changing the trim is possible and not that hard. i have made some photo when i changed mine,

                          First drill out the rivets

then use some pliers to undo the 4 nuts on the sides

                          bent these clips up

now use a screwdriver to undo the 4 hooks on top and the 4 on the bottom

                          take the airbag out

undo the bolts that hold the trimpiece

put the new trimepiece on and put everthing back together
