Rollcages
I'm bored again so looking for rollcage options for the coupe track car. Not after a WRC spec mantalists cage, more after a half cage or a entry level full cage with A pillar bars.
Magarv had his form this place in Germany. As my German is minimal, anyone see a link to shipping cost? Thanks also to magarv for this linky. I've found a few places online:- http://www.advancedautosport.com/cages.htm http://www.customcages.co.uk/homepage I spoke to Safety Devices and because they don't do an off-the-shelf cage the quote was £1750-£2000 ![]() I also asked Paul at Prospeed about rollcages and he said that they can do show cages but weren't happy to anything that would be regarded as a safety device as they deal with 2mm tubing rather than 4mm tubing as their benders aren't strong enough. He wasn't sure of Charlie's views or experience but it wasn't a positive answer so didn't inspire confidence... Anyone know of other places or does anyone have a cage in their car?

How heavy is a 4mm Wall thickness Cage then?
![]() I would wager, you will be a lot quicker without one! ![]() ![]()

Surely Safety Devices are having a laugh - they would have had cages for the Coupe back to when it was rallied / raced in its FIA approved heyday... It might not be on the current price list, but they must have tooled up for such cages in the past. Same goes for OMP & Sparco I should imagine. Probably have better luck at that German site if you can get help on the lingo.
'Show cages' - WTF is that all about then ?

Weight is a concern, but I would wager that one will be a lot quicker when alive !

Having looked at the German site of the company Magarv got his off, they use 2mm and 2.5mm tubing. If I fail to find anywhere in the UK then they'll be getting some emailage.
Fatty, having fixed buckets, harnesses and no roll cage isn't my idea of a good idea. Paul, I was pretty suprised at SD too, their off the shelf cages range from £600-£1200. The guy on the phone didn't know what the car was which was the first problem... "we have one listed for an S3..." ![]()

Based on this info... http://www.wiechers-sport.de/ueberroll/typen.html
I would go for Type E for best rigidity & safety... The Type B is going to be lots lighter but is just a simple rollover bar that adds minimal safety IMO though it would stiffen the chassis a tad. http://www.wiechers-sport.de/ueberroll/preise.html looks like you have 4 choices of material against the cages of various Types... Looks to me like 663 Eurios for Type E in 'Steel/Cromo' without any extra options. Some info in ENglish on that page is useful.

They want €2636 for a 314mm 996 Monoblock upgrade!!! That is beyond daylight robbery, that is just ripping people off! NOTE: Sorry if anyone reading this works for that company or is offended by the above outcry, but that (in my opinion and therefore try sueing me ) is just a nasty!!!Cheers n ![]() Si P.S. Yeah, they're not renowned for being bargain basement.
Cost of the SD cage from USA isn't far off UK prices from elsewhere. Other one sounds nice and cheap but secondhand and shipping would be an ***.
