opening bonnet when cable has snapped

I put the car on a lift and used a broom stick to pop the latches.

Cheers for all the replies on this guys, it turned out to be the grill catching on part of the bonnet release mechanism and not a snapped cable.

Just one of the many problems I seem to be having with it at the moment...
