Are these the same? they look slightly different on close comparison. Which is the best type to replace with for AAN?

The stock spec spark plug for the AAN and I believe ABY and ADU is the Bosch F5DPOR. Some people run other non-OEM plugs like the NGK BRK8E-IX

I've used both the NGK and Bosch alternative with no problems.

Wow thanks for the thread link too scared to put them in now, Happy though that they are the same because I bought a new set for the dead ABY engine so will use them

i run NGK PFR8B`s in everything, 2x URS4`s, cosworths, my A4 AAN, big power subarus and Evos never without problem on STD road cars to track slags
my 80 Quattro runs them too

only issue i had was just before i stripped my A4, it kept fouling plugs due to driving in/out of garage for 2 weeks so stuck some used 7b`s in just before the engine came out
