  • Mystery puff of smoke

So I was driving the RS2 back from picking up my step son this afternoon and while gently cruising down a residential back street at about 20mph, my view out the back was obscured with a very brief but significant cloud of blue smoke that quickly dissipated. I thought the turbo had gone.

However, despite a few test accelerations to bring the turbo into play and nothing has reappeared. Also looked under the car and bonnet for oil leaks but no sign. Oil temp and pressure were fine, coolant pressure was fine too.

Any suggestions on what the cause might have been?

I don't have diagnostics equipment. The car will be back up on a lift next week though.

Search PCV or (Pressurised Crankcase Ventilation).... Ours have both done that and its been cleared by a thorough clean of the tubes and flame trap etc....

Good shout. Sudden crankcase pressure will push oil up past rings and cause blue smoke.
