  • Tempting me away from my S2

After many years of having a standard spec S2 and covering 2,000 miles in it before coming off the road to freshen her up, I now have a dilemma and I'm in need of some psychiatric help, so I'm here on the Forum looking for head doctors.
After challenging my mates to suggest many cars to get me out of my S2 over the years, nothing
    has come close, until now..
Today I experienced the blast of giving a 1993 TVR Chimaera 400 a fair bit of welly mixed with a long drive of 60 Miles.
Does the S2 Forum have a department to help with my "mind correction"?
I love my S2, but the Chimaera gives me the same fizz, and it's nicely loose with rear end grip.
Please help me S2 Forum, you're my only hope...

That's certainly one thing you can say about a tvr, the rear end will be loose.

Where's the values of tvrs now?

I've just let go of my S2 after 23 years and now got an RS3 loving the more modern car and as it's still a 5 cylinder lump with 330 bhp standard power it's a nuts little machine doesn't look as nice as the Coupe' though

If your enthusiasm for the S2 has faded then a change will give you a kick up the ****.
If a Chim is what you're after, the later cars with the (I think) Borg Warner T5 gearbox are a nicer drive, BTR differentials are strong too.
I'm sure you know to look at chassis condition

that is one reason I still have mine, I see s3s/rs3s and the new 4.0tt cars all the time and they just dont look anything special unlike older cars that stand out more.

I bet you are not missing trying to find NLA parts now!

I'll keep my S2 for sure, but I really did enjoy the usable grunt from the TVR. I never experienced a Rover V8 that had torque and a lovely power band. Normally I put V8's into old Land Rovers...
My point is that the Chimaera is the first car I have driven (apart from my S2) to give huge enjoyment as a keen driver. Nothing else has done this and I've driven dozens of other performance cars.

It sounds like you’ve really found a gem in the Chimaera!
