Having been in both, the S4 is an evil beauty, Quattronutter's was to die for
The RS2 doesn't feel like a Coupe btw it's handles more like the S4, the Coupe's rear end really is skittish in comparison to the Avant / RS2
MTM RS2 on PH - details?

Well we're not looking at this RS2 now, too much history to get involved = shame
S4 is already modded to the max and he still wants more... that's the way it is with the B5, it can take so much power and £££s and yet still feels like it needs more
S2 isa lot more special to drive, feels a more alive and is sharper.

Yeah, there is a small positive but I'd be trading in a 2 owner, full history, MRC tuned, 86k mile, great condition, high specification car to a guy who'd probably sell it 2-3 months later and try to eek out a profit in the process. I'll decide by lunchtime and let you know. I'm not really up for playing games with what we know / don't know, as I feel that buying from an staight-up, honest seller counts for an awful lot (remember our 90q experience and the loss we made on that?).
As I said above, the same additional money (from VX sale) could fund a K04 conversion and 400bhp+ in a car with good brakes / suspension / spec already!!

It's taken a while but we're getting there, shame that this one is from the vendor from hell...
Be quite amusing to check off what you now know against the scenario given by the vendor. Could also mention a little of what you know and see if he bails. Don't forget that you're looking at a trade-in so there is a small positive in all of this

Thanks David. We'll see what happens!!
More developments....looks like the guy Charlie sold it to, sold it onto the Swindon chap for closer to £11k (thanks for digging out the thread Al). He now wants £13.5k for it, which seems a bit hopeful....http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthr...203#post417203
Might bail on this one actually.Leave a comment:

Thanks for the extra advice guys.
Yeah, the car looks sound enough and I'm looking forward to seeing it. He told me on the phone that he felt it could be worth as much as £14.5k but was looking for offers around £13.5k. There's no supporting paperwork for the MTM work but as we know, Charlie did an engine rebuild and all sorts in between (and not that long ago). He's had the car for 6 months he said and looks to have put a service on it in March from closer inspection of the original eBay advert. To be honest, depending on the value we place on my S4 (£7.5-8k), I could be looking at an extra £5k or so to secure the car. Mind you, for £5k I could put K04s on my S4 and make 400bhp+
We'll make sure we don't get messed around....any funny business and we'll just walk away.Leave a comment:

you should be ok if andy's going with you to help check it out. i reckon the car will be fine but that's not the bit to be "buyer beware". just make sure you don't get messed around as the goalposts change size/change shape/move around the pitch.....if you get my meaning!!!! i notice that there wasn't a price stated on the pistonheads ad.
i doubt he's had the car too long as he's a sort of dealer so it should be pretty much as the previous owner had it. it's not the car's fault!!!Leave a comment:

Good luck! Take it for a test drive and make sure it's boosting well.Leave a comment:

See edited thread above re: my conversation with him this evening. Whoever he is, the car looks great and Charlie seems to have done a great job with it!! If he's interested in my S4, then there could still be a good deal to be had. We'll see....Leave a comment:
