Someone else mentioned sensor open circuit. Have you measured the sensor resistance against a known good one ?. Should not be zero, but perhaps a few 10's or hundreds of ohms.

Unlikely to be the wiring ime, though the spade terminals could be corroded and wire open circuit inside the crimp. Recrimp wire ends if in any doubt, as the engine end also takes a fair bit of vibration.

To verify wiring and with ignition switch off, measure continuity and resistance of the sensor wire to the gauge, at the engine end against ground. Should be a few hundred ohms max. Alternatively and with ignition on, measure the voltage at the sensor wire with the wire off. Should show 12 volts or close...

If you had read the complete thread, post 2 on page 1 said:

"If I remember correctly, when the oil pressure gauge goes off scale, it means that there is no signal to it, i.e. kind of a warning. Hence no difference when you unplugged it. Broken wire or broken sender."

    Look through the complete thread.

Right ive sorted why it doesnt work right,

it isnt connected and the wiring was all chaffed and kept going off when i wiggled the wires with the console out, shockingly dangerous how it was left if im honest

went to a breakers and cut out the full harness for the gauges

i will do a "how to" retrofit guide if you lads would think it would be of interest

    Sean.

Nope, the WK terminal is one of the two on the cotton reel looking one

sender is big fat 2 terminal jobbie yes?

WK is single pin jobbie yes?

    Cheers

will search the WK terminal as its all retrofitted,

Try swapping the terminals at the sender. If that doesn't fix it, try grounding the wire going to the WK terminal on the sender (normally this has a plastic housing on it).
If the reading drops to 0 then the gauge is working fine, probably a connection or sender fault. If not, you have continuity issues between the sender and gauge. HTH

yes as they were just shonkey spade connector jobbies!

im just going to take the wiring from the donor car if its a sub loom, is it a sub loom or part of main harness mateys?

IIRC on the UR this happens if the sensor wires are reversed, is it possible the wires are crossed over somewhere?

Rusty, its all the time mate, had the car hot with the rad fans on and still off the scale so its not true pressure, its on the stop for max all the time! lol

i see, i got lots of the car apart now anyway as its been nailed together very badly, might even pull the dash out to check for nasties!

will go and remove the harness and senders from the car i took the gauges from today, best idea i think.

is this a sub harness or part of the main loom that needs cut out on a B4?

I missed the B4 part. My bad. Personally, I think joining the two wires together = bad idea. If they are like the AAN sender/switch, they both go to ground through the sender. Connecting them together = nothing to ground = electrical short??
