I can only vouch for AudiCoupeParts as far as purchasing parts from him online....Never met the guy, but seems like good people.

It's unfortunate that we, as an Audi enthusiast community, have to have our shields up regarding the international transactions/purchases that are necessary to support our passions. I, for one, would be happy to help out any of you blokes in a jam if needed.

Yes, there are a great deal of the stereotypical 'Ugly Americans' that proliferate the media and are indeed embarrassing, but I hope you guys understand that they in no way represent the lot of us.

I shall now retreat off my soapbox

    Thanks

No one was doubting the integrity of your friend, its just when you read a post like that without knowing who it is alarm bells ring if they did not then your a fool.
Lots of people can vouch for me, but could you varia? Of coarse not you don't know me.
If we know were honest sometimes we take it forgranted and word things without think how others may read into it, there are alot of dishonest people out there to scam you.
Paypal only protects the buyer. If your the seller your screwed.
Its good audicoupeparts has come up with a solution because if this is a regular thing he does not want the hassel of requesting help each time he buys something from Europe I know I would'nt.
Its not just where Prj lives its the world over unfortunatly.

    ...and another thread heads south...

As ever, the information presented is well meaning but it's the straight talking that brings out the best in people

prj's musings are indeed the reason why most people on here haven't jumped in to help; a fact that's sad but true and is a reflection of how cautious people are nowadays. I've helped a few members out on here and had the same courtesy paid back but usually with people who I've dealt with before. When dealing with those on mainland Europe, it's well worth looking into what methods of payment are available, as I've been caught out by this before In that instance, it all worked out OK. Those in Germany seem especially keen on bank transfer as a payment method.

It sounds like the OP has had 2 options present themselves, which is nice.

    Nice and snarky comment.
The way I think just shows that I have done a lot more business online than you.

You guys really suffer from lack of reading comprehension though. I said right off the bat that I am not accusing anyone of anything, I just wrote how things work.
But I won't in the future, just keep living in wonderland, until you get screwed online.

I've made plenty of bank transfers EU -> US, I don't see why it would be any different the other way.

And to be honest your request looks a bit dodgy, especially if you are offering to send someone money via PayPal in exchange for them sending the money via a bank transfer.

    Just an example:
    1. You send me PayPal money.
    2. I forward it to the seller.
    3. He sends you the product.
    4. You dispute the payment you sent me on PayPal or file a chargeback with your credit card company.

Now I am out of money, and you just got your stuff for free.

I am not trying to say you are trying to pull a fast one, just saying that this might be a factor into why people are a bit cautious about your request.
Also, I think UK is not member of SEPA, because they don't use the Euro, so asking someone from the UK to do it, does not make sense, as it's going to be expensive.

Just make a direct transfer. If you have their bank details including name, IBAN and BIC, you can make the transfer from the US to Europe as well.
I don't think Joe Marconi would scam anybody. Furthermore, I vouch for him.
Joe, I have bank account in Germany, pm if you still need help.

ps: No offence, but the way you think reflects where you live.

I have done lots of bank transfers to Europe. Have you looked at the exchange rate of the bank that you're with?

Paypal has a smaller fee, but they make up for this with their own exchange rate which is inflated and higher than the banks rate. It all works out very much the same in the end wether its paypal or direct online bank transfer, for us here in Oz anyways.

And for collection only items, you still don't have to take PayPal afaik, but is irrelevant here.

Actually you can. You can claim to your bank that someone stole your card, and it'll be charged back just fine. Gift or not, does not matter.

Yeah, that would look like FRAUD! What bank in the world would not investigate a claim?? My card got stolen and the theif ONLY charged 119 euros to a german account. Then contact the receiver to find out his story of ME winning his auction on Ebay. Plus Paypal knows by my log in that my card was not stolen. I sent the funds directly from my account through their website. I would be charged with bank fraud.

Don't get me wrong, I am not accusing you of anything, as I already said.
Just putting things straight. I understand. I been here long enough to know that we all try to protect eachother on this forum. Nobody wants to get screwed.

I hope you will find someone who will help you out. Good luck.
I have some great news! I found a local bank that only charges $25 to do a transfer that is less than $500 total. So Iam good to go. I did however have to open checking account with them. It was free but a tad bit of a hassle.

Hi. 1.US transfer rates are very expensive. From $50 to $70 to do a US to EU money wire transfer .
    2. I would send paypal as a gift so I CAN"T do a charge back and "screw somebody". To even say that is shameful considering the business I do with other forum members has been problem free. I have bought items and others have bought items for me on th eforum and I have not had any problems. So I don't see what is "dodgy" about it.
    3. To send money by paypal does not cost me anything
    4. I did not address this request to UK members. EU and Germany members.
