Got a strange noise
Drove over to White Cottage today for a chat and asked Pete to have a listen as a clunk has recently been added to the jingling noise. Based on listening looking and watching me turn on full lock Pete said, diff, CV or drive shaft and to take it easy. He had too much work on to leave the car with him so I left to go back home and only made it a few yards from his hate when there was a massive bang and a grinding noise and I lost drive halfway across the road, blocking the traffic. I ran back in to get him and we pushed it back into the driveway where it then runs uphill a bit. It then occurred to me to try the diff lock which worked a treat and I was able to back the car in and park it.
So perfect place for it to break and glad it didn't happen on the way there when I was giving it some stick and thinking it was just a broken diff mount!
The drivers side rear drive shaft is turning but the wheel is not so has to be either shaft sheared or CV exploded. He's going to have a look on Monday [emoji15]

Check the two CV joints on the prop for wear. I recently had to replace mine as they were making a jingling noise when not under load. From under the car i could grab hold of the prop and jiggle it up/down 2-3mm so it will be obvious if they are worn out.

Still clucking away, need to get underneath and have a look. I hate going underneath the car these days... [emoji21]

Dry uj or torn centre bearing mount...wouldn't want to drive too much without working out what it is or you could have a dangerous liaison with a propshaft

Yep, centre bearing (I need to do mine) and prop CVs. (or even possibly a loose joint...)

Got a strange noise
I have a kind of "chuckling/ ticking" noise, coming from somewhere in the transmission, I think.. Maybe from the prop or rear diff..
It only happens at low speed and in a low gear, say second at 20-30mph coasting in gear. It goes away if I accelerate or decelerate.
No unusual noises or vibes at speed.
Any ideas anyone??
