Thule alloy Aero roof bars for coupe

Another little snippet of info for any coupe owners who want to fit roof bars, but don't want the really ugly old style black bars.
There is an option of fitting the decent looking alloy aero bars, even though Thule don't list them as an option for the coupe, they only list the classic (black square section) bars.

You need ;

861 Alloy aero 120cm roof bars,
750 Rapid system foot pack
Rapid fitting kit 1186 (which actuually is listed for a Hyundai accent)

I took the chance after getting left with a load of A6 roof rack parts which I couldn't use, cross referencing and guessing....hey presto fits perfectly, and is ok now for the cross Europe trips I have to do in my car.

I know its a bit of a pain to have to fit these things to your car from time to time, but at least this is a decent looking option...!

I haven't posted a picture, as I am sure we all know what roof bars look like...!

Go on... Post a pic, I've just paid a mint for the Thule roof system (including a large Thule (780?) top box) for the S2 Estate and A4 1.8t quattro Avant.

12 years later and this tip on the 1186 fitting kit is perfect. That's why I love this forum

Yes both visually i have been searching for pictures of one with decent roof bars and found nothing, i would love to get roof bars for my bikes but not if they are horrible looking

I can't take a pic of the bars fitted, only the bars themselves..... I should have an old pic with a box fitted though somewhere...... let me look....

mine looks a little different to that.. the rubber feet hook over the edge into the inner roof channel, I think the ends I have are a bit thinner too.......

I'm interested now, so will have a closer look now.. ...
